||**Regular activities:**
There was no symposium in 2021. It was felt that the plans for the
symposium on 16th October 2021 required review for two reasons:
1. Various factors meant that preparation for the event was not as far
forward as it should ideally have been at the time being too close to the
event.
2. Some trustees expressed anxiety about the reception of delegates to
the significant change in format, even with marketing to that effect.
It was therefore proposed that the symposium be delayed and its
structure reviewed.
**Engagement with external organisations:**
Several of the trustees have been attending the regular stakeholder
meetings organised by DEFRA’s Exotic Disease Control outbreak team
in light of the ongoing highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI) H5N1
outbreak in the UK. Feedback from these meetings will form part of the
next newsletter and symposium.|
