||An Annual<br>General Meeting for 2019-2020was held on ge December<br>2020.|
||BWRC maintained<br>an associate membership<br>for individuals,<br>who<br>received our newsletter<br>The Rehabilitator<br>and reduced rate symposium<br>tickets. There were 42 individual<br>associate members<br>during<br>financial year<br>2020-21.|
||Free advice continues to be provided<br>by BWRC trustees and volunteers<br>in response to specific queries from the public via the BWRC website and<br>Facebook page.|
|Summary ofthe main<br>activities undertaken<br>for the<br>public benefit in relation to<br>these objects (include within<br>this section the statutory<br>BWRC held our first virtual<br>annual<br>symposium<br>via Zoom on 21"<br>November 2020. The symposium<br>was attended<br>by 87delegates<br>plus<br>speakers alongside<br>nine speakers and trustees and helpers from Writtle<br>college staff who chaired and assisted<br>with text chat management.<br>The<br>keynote speaker's<br>topic was compassions<br>awareness<br>in the animal care<br>industry.<br>Engagement<br>with external<br>organlsatlons:||

The<br>AWNW Code ofBest Practice for Animal Welfare Establishments<br>was<br>published<br>in September 2020.||
||A "Joint statement<br>on the captive breeding ofhedgehogs<br>in response to<br>population<br>decline" was written<br>by BWRC in collaboration<br>with the British<br>Veterinary<br>Zoological Society (BVZS), British Hedgehog<br>Preservation<br>Society (BHPS) and others. This was written<br>in response to rumours<br>that<br>some organisations<br>had plans to start breeding<br>programmes<br>and argues<br>against that strategy at this time. Other organisations<br>including<br>BWRC<br>associate members<br>have been invited to co-sign to indicate their support<br>for this policy which was first published<br>online on 1"March 2021.|
||BWRC recorded a 20minute<br>lecture to introduce a series ofnine mini-<br>lectures aimed at veterinary<br>and other students<br>on the principles of<br>wildlife rehabilitation.<br>This was a collaborative<br>project lead by the Bom<br>Free Foundation<br>and the recordings<br>have been published<br>on their<br>website (and will be added to ours when possible).|
||A collaboration<br>with Writtle University<br>College has begun to develop a<br>national<br>wildlife rehabilitation<br>database.<br>This project aims to provide data<br>for research<br>into improving<br>wildlife rehabilitation<br>practice<br>in the UK.|

|||Human Disease Epidemic" was prepared,<br>drawing<br>together the<br>available advice pertinent to wildlife rehabilitation<br>practice during<br>the COVID-19 pandemic<br>and published<br>on 31"March 2020.|
|||~<br>monthly<br>(rather than quarterly)<br>newsletters<br>were published<br>from<br>March to August 2020.|
|||~<br>Supporting<br>letters were offered (and provided) to any<br>rehabilitators<br>who were nervous<br>about making journeys<br>to release<br>casualties<br>during<br>lockdown,<br>explaining<br>the purpose<br>and animal<br>welfare justification<br>for their activities.|
|||~<br>A survey ofrehabilitators'<br>experiences<br>ofworking<br>under<br>'lockdown'<br>conditions was canied out and preliminary<br>findings<br>were presented<br>at Symposium<br>2020|
|||BWRC Annual<br>Symposium<br>was held online for the first time in response<br>to the COVID pandemic,<br>but also facilitated attendance<br>ofdelegates<br>who<br>wouldn't<br>normally<br>be able to attend<br>in person.|
|Briefstatement ofthe<br>charity's<br>policy on reserves||Reserves (generated<br>by donations<br>and associate membership<br>and any<br>profit resulting<br>from BWRC training<br>events and meetings) are used to pay<br>costs directly related to the functions ofthe charity including<br>trustee's<br>training,<br>travel and working expenses (related directly to BWRC), for<br>production costs such as design and printing<br>ofthe newsletter<br>and other|
