Objectives and activities
The charity's objocts
1. To develop the capacity and skills of the members of the community of Richmond Hill, Cross Green and East
End Park in the ward of Burmanlofts and Richmond Hill in the Melropolilan District of Leeds in such a way that
they are better able lo identify, and help meet their needs and to participate more fully in society.
2. To promote social inclusion for the public benefft by preventing people from becoming socially excluded,
relieving the needs of those people who are socially excluded and assisting them to integrate into society.
3. The prevention or relief of F)ovety by providing rtems and services to individuals in need.
al The provision of recreational and leisure lime activities provided in the interest of social welfare, designed to
improve their conditions of life.,
bl Providing support and acbvilies which develop their skils. capacities and capabilitses lo enable them to
participate in society as mature and responsible individuals.
The charlty's maln actlvltles
Community Unity ILeedsl CIO'S main activities are community famity parties, support for local people, weekly
meals and Christmas hampers and toy deliveries.
Publlc benefit statement
In setting our objecb'ves and planning our a¢livilies our Trustees have given serious consideration to the
Charity Commission's general guidance on public benefit and in particular the prevention or relief of povety-
Achlovements and pgrfonnance
During this year Community Unity trustees and volunteers. in place of our normal Wednesday Meals, we ran a
food provision for local people who were affected by the Covid19 pandemic. This was done in partnership with
the area's local food hub led by Leeds Mencap and other l¢)¢al organisalions. We also provided practical help
and support lo local people. some of whom were shieldinglisolating.
Community Unity has received specific funds lo serve the local community due to the Covid-19 pandemic. We
have also received funding when we return lo nomal aetivitses lsuch as the Wednesday meals). The work will
continue as these funds allow and extra funding will be sought as required. At the lime of signing these
aceounls the charity has been impacted by the global Covid-19 virus. The Iruslees have reassessed the
charity's ability lo continue for al least 12 months from the dale that the accounts are approved and conclude
that no material uncertainb'es exist that cast significant doubl on the charity's ability lo meet its liabilities as they
fall due.
Financial review
The nel receipts for the year were £3.372, in¢luding net receipts of £1.903 on unrestri¢ted fvnds and nel
receipts of £1,469 on restricted funds.
Reserves policy
The charity's free reserves al the year end were £7.109.
The Iruslees have not adopted a formal reseryes policy. The Trustees recognise the need lo regularty review
the finances, budgets and spend against budget together as part of the effective stewardship of the CIO. The
charity has not or will not in the near future employ any persons or lease or rent propety therefore the Trustees
recognise that future reserves need only be kept to a minimum amount to cover its activities for the public
benefit and fluctuations in cash flow.

1 Accounting policies
Basis of accounting
The trustees have taken advantage of section 133 of the Charibes Act 2011 and have prepared the
accounts on a receipts and payments basis.
There has been no change to the accounting policies since last year.
No changes have been made to the accounts for previous years.
TaxatSon
As a charity the organisation benefits from rates relief and is generalty exempl from income tax and
capitsl gains tsx but not from VAT. lffecoverable VAT is included in the cost of those items lo which it
relates.
Fund accountlng
Unreslricled funds are available for use at the di$¢￿tion of the trustees in furtherance of the general
objectives of the charity.
Restricted funds are subjected to restrictsons on thèir èxpenditure imposed by the donor or through th8
terms of an appeal.
