The benefits arising from Friends of Ambler’s activities are additional resources and opportunities for pupils at Ambler Primary School and Children’s Centre, and strengthening links between the school and the local community.

These benefits are demonstrated through the activities of the PTA, working in partnership with the school and engaging support from parents and carers, and the provision of activities for pupils which would not be available via school funding.

There is no harm arising from any of the purposes.

**Summary of the main activities undertaken for the public benefit in relation to these objects (include within this section the statutory declaration that trustees have had regard to the guidance issued by the Charity Commission on public benefit)**

The charity’s beneficiaries are the pupils of Ambler Primary School and Children’s Centre.

Charity trustees (PTA committee members) are usually also parents and carers of pupils at Ambler school and hence gain benefit in the same way as all other beneficiaries. This benefit is incidental and necessary to ensure the benefit is provided to all beneficiaries.

## **Additional details of objectives and activities (Optional information)**

You **may choose** to include further statements, where relevant, about:

- policy on grantmaking;

- policy programme related investment;

- contribution made by volunteers.

Section D                      Achievements and performance

**Summary of the main achievements of the charity during the year**

The start of the financial year included a fantastic leaving party for Juliet Benis, Ambler’s long-standing headteacher, which was a well-deserved send off to a wonderful Head. We also had our first summer fair since 2019, which was circus themed and included a bouncy castle, circus skills and 2 fire engines. With thanks to our sponsors, Winkworths, we raised an enormous amount.

The 2022/2023 school year was extremely busy. We held discos for all year groups. We also ran the Greetings Card Project, which we do annually, and organised a Silent Auction which was even more popular than the previous year. This was, once again, a huge community effort with many people donating their time and skills.

We also put on a Winter Day of Fun for the kids, instead of a Winter Fair, which they all enjoyed. Stalls ranged from a golf game to face painting, to guess the name of the Penguin. By doing it during the school day, it meant that every Ambler child got to be there. We also hosted a Winter Party at the end of the school day to include parents with festive music and hot chocolate.

Also in the Winter Term, Ambler Arts created a beautiful Calendar showcasing the artwork from Arts Week. This was sold to raise money for art projects at Ambler. We also ran a second-hand uniform sale and a second hand Christmas jumper sale in order to create a culture of reuse at Ambler. Finally, we set up the Ambler Community Fund, which is a separate fundraising campaign, where the money goes to support individual families in Ambler struggling with the costs of school trips and clubs.

In January 2023, we held a hilarious comedy night for the Ambler adults, which was hosted by Tom Price. It was a night of laughter with fantastic acts: Athena Kugblenu, Rosie Holt and Jimmy McGhie.

In February 2023, we put on four movie nights to cover all the year groups. As ever, the kids talked through the films but loved watching them together and chomping on popcorn.

**Ambler Arts** Ambler Arts helped organize and fund Arts Week in Summer 2022. With artist Aya Haidar, the pupils in each year group worked in smaller groups on beautiful DREAMs squares, which were then stitched together to make two quilts – a main one and a smaller one as a gift for Juliet. The main quilt was subsequently picked for the Young Artists Summer Exhibition at the Royal Academy. Ambler Arts also organized an incredible graffiti workshop for the Year 6 pupils.

Ambler Arts also provided support to the school with finding appropriate art workshops, museum and gallery visits that are on offer this year.

**Grow Ambler** hosted three very successful gardening days last year, one each term, where families volunteered and helped to do tasks such as planting, weeding and maintaining the planters, spreading woodchip in the forest, and generally tidying up the school grounds. Families brought a picnic, and everyone enjoyed a fun, relaxed and sociable day. Other team members liaised with the school on initiatives to reduce our carbon footprint, and continued to lobby the relevant authorities to introduce measures to improve air quality, reduce pollution and traffic.
