year. They ore only cancelled in the event of exlreme weother conditions that could
threaten rider sofety or in-line wilh official direclives (such as British Cycling and
Government directives during the Covid-19 pandemic). During the winter months. or

Children. Youth and Junior Riders - coaching and trolnlng
The youth section of the Club continues lo promote riding from the very youngest up
to junior riders 116-181. We also try to occommodate riders who hove specific needs
and, where possible, work wilh parents to make reasonable adju51ments. Our aim is
for cyclisls lo learn the basics such os balancing, looking ohead. cornering and
pedol position. This helps them with the Iransilion from riding in the youth
environment to the adult rides and compelitions. The youngest group start with
'Pedal in the Park" using games and aclivilies and then move on to more formal
coaching ol the Boddington Circuit at the Brownlee Cenlre. We hope to make
cycling a lifelong habit.
Four clubs hove come logether to form a troining cluster known as the Yorkshire 4
Race Training IY4RTI. Each club provides coaches lo run evening sessions and in
addition ICC provides the bock-room support such as bookings, finances and the
first aid on the night. This type of cooperation also allows children lo form bonds and
friendship5 in Ihe cycling fraternity which hopefully will follow them into odulthood.
When riders reach a cerlain standard, they can move to advanced coaching
sessions which are for leens who are serious about racing.
ICC is a "Go-Ride" club and we work with Brilish Cycling to maintain standards of
care Isafeguardingl and lo promole racing, higher level coaching and introduction
to all the cycling disciplines including mounloin biking.
