TRUSTEES ANNUAL REPORT

Wetherby and District Foodbank successfully completed a further year providing food to those in crisis across our community and the surrounding districts. The demand for our services has dropped for a second year running. We redeemed 522 vouchers providing 1147 Food Parcels for people in food crisis. A decrease of 36% and 38% respectively, 32% of these parcels were provided for children. All of this was made possible by the generous donations and support from our volunteers. We collected 33.9 Tonnes and redistributed 33.2 Tonnes of food and non-food items. This was a drop against last year by 12% and 15% respectively.
Operationally, the Distribution Centre in Tadcaster, based at The Barn Community Centre, had a successful second year providing support to this area on a Wednesday morning. The Wetherby Distribution Centre is open 3 mornings a week, on Tuesdays and Fridays. A new Community Hub was planned and opened in October 2025, in Wetherby, bringing various related local charities together under one roof, (St James’s Community Centre). This will be an additional, more central location for clients to access the support they may need. We continue to have the free use of a delivery van from Sykes House Farm and offer home delivery for clients unable to pick up food themselves.
One of our strategic aims is to signpost advice and support to help break the cycle of food poverty. To this end, we have a financial advisor/debt councillor at Wetherby on a Friday and Tadcaster on a Wednesday, provided by a specialist charity called Money Buddies funded via a grant from Trussell Trust. The data indicates that when clients go through this process, they become less dependent on the foodbank for continuing support.
From a financial perspective, grants from the Trussell Trust and other organisations have fallen by 50% and some other costs have increased. Despite this, the Foodbank remains financially strong through prudent cost management and the generous financial support we receive from the general public and local businesses.

I have reviewed the annual report and accounts for the Wetherby & District Foodbank for the financial year ending 30th September 2025. This report relates to an independent examination carried out under section 145 of the 2011 Act and the examination has been conducted in accordance with the Directions given by the Commission. As a result of the above independent examination, I can confirm that the accounting records have been kept in accordance with section 130 of the Charities Act 2011 and that the accounts and annual report accord with the accounting records. There are no significant areas of concern to raise with either the Trustees or the Commission.
