## **Report of the Independent Examiner to the trustees**

## **on the accounts of the Charity for the year ended 31 October 2025**

I report on the financial statements of the charity for the year ended 31 October 2025, which comprise the Statement of Financial Activities, the Balance Sheet, the Cash Flow Statement and the related notes to the financial statements. The financial statements have been prepared in accordance with the Charities Act 2011, the Companies Act 2006, the Financial Reporting Standard applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland (FRS 102), and the Statement of Recommended Practice: Accounting and Reporting by Charities (Charities SORP (FRS 102)), under the historical cost convention and the accounting policies set out on pages 18 to 20.

## **Respective responsibilities of trustees and examiner**

As described on page 6, the charity's trustees, who are also the directors of the company for the purposes of company law, are responsible for the preparation of the financial statements in accordance with applicable law and United Kingdom Accounting Standards (United Kingdom Generally Accepted Accounting Practice).

The trustees consider that the charity is exempt from the statutory audit requirement under section 144 of the Charities Act 2011 and that the company is entitled to the audit exemption available to small companies under section 477 of the Companies Act 2006. The members have not required the company to obtain an audit in accordance with section 476 of the Companies Act 2006, and there is no requirement within the charity's governing document for the financial statements to be audited.

Accordingly, the trustees have elected for the financial statements to be subject to an independent examination.

Having satisfied myself that the charity is eligible for independent examination and is not required to be audited under the Charities Act 2011 or the Companies Act 2006, my responsibility is to:

a) examine the financial statements under section 145 of the Charities Act 2011;

b) follow the procedures prescribed in the General Directions given by the Charity Commission under section 145(5)(b) of the Charities Act 2011; and

c) state whether any matters have come to my attention that give me cause to believe that, in any material respect:

accounting records have not been kept in accordance with section 386 of the Companies Act 2006;

## **Independent Examiner's Statement, report and opinion**

I conducted my independent examination in accordance with the General Directions given by the Charity Commission under section 145(5)(b) of the Charities Act 2011. An independent examination includes a review of the accounting records maintained by the charity and a comparison of the financial statements with those records. It also includes consideration of any unusual items or disclosures in the financial statements and seeking explanations from the trustees concerning any such matters.

The purpose of an independent examination is to establish whether there is any evidence to suggest that the charity has failed to comply with the applicable legal and accounting requirements or whether there are any material matters that should be brought to the attention of readers of the financial statements. The examination is carried out on a test basis and does not provide the assurance that would be obtained from an audit.

The procedures undertaken do not provide all the evidence that would be required in an audit. Consequently, no audit has been carried out and I do not express an audit opinion on the financial statements or on whether they give a true and fair view of the charity's affairs.

I planned and performed the examination so as to obtain sufficient appropriate evidence to enable me to form my conclusion. Before finalising my report, I obtained such written representations and explanations from the trustees as

8

conclusion. Before finalising my report, I obtained such written representations and explanations from the trustees as I considered necessary in the circumstances.

Subject to the limitations upon the scope of my work described above, I confirm that no matter has come to my attention in connection with my examination which gives me reasonable cause to believe that, in any material respect:

(i) adequate accounting records have not been kept in accordance with section 386 of the Companies Act 2006;

(ii) the financial statements do not accord with the accounting records or fail to comply with the accounting requirements of the Companies Act 2006 applicable to small charitable companies; or

(iii) the financial statements have not been prepared in accordance with the Charities Act 2011, the Companies Act 2006, the Financial Reporting Standard applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland (FRS 102) and the Statement of Recommended Practice: Accounting and Reporting by Charities (Charities SORP (FRS 102).

Accordingly, I have no matters to report arising from my independent examination.

I confirm that the charity is eligible for independent examination under the Charities Act 2011 and that the company is entitled to exemption from audit under section 477 of the Companies Act 2006. The members have not required the company to obtain an audit under section 476 of the Companies Act 2006.

## **Notes to the Accounts for the year ended 31 October 2025**

## **1 Accounting policies**

## _**Policies relating to the production of the accounts.**_

## **Basis of preparation and accounting convention**

The financial statements have been prepared on the accruals basis under the historical cost convention and in accordance with the Charities Act 2011, the Companies Act 2006, the Financial Reporting Standard applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland (FRS 102) and the Statement of Recommended Practice: Accounting and Reporting by Charities (Charities SORP (FRS 102)).

The charity constitutes a public benefit entity as defined by FRS 102.

The financial statements have been prepared on a going concern basis. The trustees consider that there are no material uncertainties regarding the charity's ability to continue as a going concern.

## **Risks and future assumptions**

The charity is a public benefit entity.

The charity has made its risk assessment as outlined in the initial business plan which is available from the Board of Trustees.

## _**Policies relating to categories of income and income recognition.**_

## **Nature of income**

Income comprises voluntary donations received in furtherance of the charity's objectives. Donations are recognised when the charity is entitled to the funds, receipt is probable and the amount can be measured reliably.

## **Volunteers**

In accordance with the SORP, and in recognition of the difficulties in placing a monetary value on the contribution from volunteers, the contribution of volunteers is not included within the income of the charity.

However, the trustees value the significant contribution made to the activities of the charity by unpaid volunteers and this is described more fully in Note 5.

## _**Policies relating to assets, liabilities and provisions and other matters.**_

## _**Tangible fixed assets**_

Tangible fixed assets are measured at their original cost value, or subsequent revaluation, or if donated, as described above. Cost value includes all costs expended in bringing the asset into its intended working condition.

Depreciation has been provided at the following rates in order to write off the assets to their anticipated residual value over their estimated useful lives.

18

## **Ilyas Trust Limited by Guarantee**

## **Notes to the Accounts for the year ended 31 October 2025**

Freehold premises 2 % straight line Leasehold premises 2 % straight line Plant and machinery 33 % straight line Motor vehicles 25 % straight line

## **Tangible Fixed Assets**

Tangible fixed assets are stated at cost less accumulated depreciation and any accumulated impairment losses.

Depreciation is provided on all tangible fixed assets, other than freehold land, at rates calculated to write off the cost of each asset, less its estimated residual value, over its expected useful economic life on a straight-line basis as follows:

The trustees review the estimated useful economic lives, residual values and depreciation methods of tangible fixed assets at each reporting date and adjust them where appropriate.

The trustees also review the carrying value of tangible fixed assets annually to determine whether there is any indication of impairment. Where such an indication exists, the recoverable amount of the asset is estimated and any impairment loss is recognised in the Statement of Financial Activities.

## **Accounting for capital grants and fixed asset funds**

Capital grants and donated fixed assets are recognised when the charity is entitled to the asset or grant, it is probable that the economic benefits will be received, and the value can be measured reliably.

Fixed assets are recognised at cost or, where donated, at their fair value on receipt. Where assets are subject to donorimposed restrictions, the related funds are treated as restricted funds until the restrictions have been fulfilled. Fixed assets are subsequently measured in accordance with the charity's accounting policy for tangible fixed assets.

## **Creditors and provisions**

The creditors and provisions for liabilities and charges are recognised and measured from the amounts as recorded at the balance sheet date.

Cash and bank balances

Cash held by the charity is included at the amount actually held and counted at the year end. Bank balances, whether in credit or overdrawn, are shown at the amounts properly reconciled to the bank statements.

## **Fund Accounting**

Unrestricted funds are available for use at the discretion of the trustees in furtherance of the general objectives of the charity. Designated funds are unrestricted funds earmarked by the Trustees for particular purposes.

Restricted funds are subjected to restrictions on their expenditure imposed by the donor or through the terms of an appeal or as implied by law. There are no restricted funds in place.
