Summary of the objects of the Charity set out in its governing document The Glub's trustees have given careful consideration to the relevant guidance issued by the Charity Comfflission on public benefit: Membership of SWCC is completely open. There is no waiting list and the trustees believe that the subscriptions sel for each season are affordable for the majority of the local community. Subscriptions may be reduced or waived for those with less rinancial means. There is no test of skill for membership. Membership is available to all members of the public who wish to join. SWCC provides facilits'es to play and practise cricket across the entire range of cricketing ability. •opportunities for playing cricket are only available to members, not least because it is a requirement of the various competitions in which SWCC takes part thal players should be bona fide members of the club. Notwithslanding the above, the club's main ground is made available, free of charge, for a local Kwik Cricket league involving local primary schools, for the 'Chance lo Shine, charity and also to the Saffron Walden Rounders Club, Saffron Tri, Saffron Striders and women's ffitness group. And finally, no charge is made for admission for spectators wishing to watch the malches taking place. The club has over 90 volunteers who seNe on the Trustee or Executive Gommittees, help run junior teams and who undertake a variety ol other roles including co-ordinating lixlures, liaising wfth the press elc. Having said that, the recruitment of volunteers is increasingly challenging bul the club still considers ilsell fortunate 10 have so many people prepared lo give ol their lime. Summary of the main achievements of the Charity durlng the year Saffron Walden Cricket Club is in a good place and continues lo be in a strong a position. With 20 years since our Academy was set up in 2005, 2025 was a year to celebrate. Moving fomard there is an energy behind it with a number of senior players and other volunteers taking on vital roles in ter5 ot torward planning, sponsorship, recruitment, kit and clubhouse management. This energy blends ambition with the club's important charitable role as a community organisalion. Cricket is, by ils very nature, seasonal, and clubs with histories as long as ours will inevitably experience both good and bad seasons. After a partiCLJlarly challenging 2024, 2025 was again a year ol mixed fortunes lor the club: The 1 s enjoyed a very positive season, built around excellenl team spirit and competitive attitude throughout the campaign. The previous season's relegation from the East Anglian Premier League inevitably led to the loss of personnel but it also opened the door for younger players to more firmly establish themselves at 1 s level, gaining valuable experience that bodes well for the future. With the move of established 2s players into the 1 s, the 2s experienced a disappointing season overall, with the consistency and consolidation of previous seasons proving difficult to achieve. There were, however, moments of considerable promise. The 3s delivered a solid and commendable season, finishing comfortably in mid table of CCA Senior Division 3. Despite the inevilable challenges of player movement, the team maintained cohesion and competitiveness throughout the campaign with their captain leading from the front. With availability difficulties in the higher teams having a significanl knock on effect, the 4s struggled to be competitive at limes and were unfortunately forced lo concede three matches. Nevertheless, the team continues lo serve a vital role within the club structure, providing an important opportunity for Academy players to be introduced to senior cricket. The Women's 1s also faced a difficult season due to availability issues. Despite this the commitment of those involved remained strong, and the foundations are in place for renewed participation moving forward. The Midweek team, by contrast, enjoyed a positive season, continuing to provide a valuable and enjoyable cricketing outlet across the club. The Sunday and Crocus teams continue to give opportunities to a wide range of players. The junior level our Academy continues to thrive with numbers continuing to recover following the loss ol members during COVID, lielding over twenty junior teams, including 5 girls teams. Off the field the club continues to enjoy the suptX)rt ol the local Town Council, Cambridgeshire and Essex Cricket Boards and a wide variety of local sponsors. We held Iwo very successful lunches for vice presidents and supporters which attracted alrnost 200 gue*s in total. TAR March 2012
Section E Financial review It is the club's intention to budget for a break even position each year. Our unrestricted reserves therefore comprise ground machinery and other equipment vital to the operation of the club's main ground at the Anglo American Playing Fields and a working capital balance sufficient to meet ongoing costs through the close season.
