The club's trustees have given careful Consideration to the relevant
guidan￿ issued by Ihe Charity Commission on public benefit:
Membership of SWCC is completely open. There is no waiting list
and the trustees believe that the subscriptions sel for each
season are affordable for the majority of the local community.
Subscriptions may be reduced or waived for those with less
financial means.
There is no iesi ol skill for membership.
Membership is available to all members of the public who wish lo
join.
SWCC provides facilities to play and practise cricket across Ihe
entire range of cricketing ability.
• SWCC'S faalilies for playing cricket are only available lo
members, not least because il is a requirement of the various
competilions in which SWCC lakes part Ihat play8rs should be
bona fide members of the club.
Notsvilhstanding the above, the club's main ground is made
available. free of charge. for a local Kwik Cricket league involving
local primary schools, for the 'Chance to Shine. charity and also to
the Saffron Walden Rounders Club.
. And finally, no charge is made for admission for spectators
wishing to watch the matches tsking place.

It is a large, ambitious dub which is always mindful of its amateur status.
It has over 80 volunleers vtho conlribule al a variety of levels both on and
off the field and the officers regard thLyr support for theffl as key to the
ongoing success of the club.

Achievements and performance
The club o)ntinues to thrive and to prowde playing and social
opportunilies for a wide range of local people. We have over 800 people
on our database including almost 300 young people between the ages of
4 and 16. We run 30 teams across all ages including men, women. gids
and disabled wilh each group having opportunities lo be coached as well
as lo play crickel. Numbers in the 12-16 age group have not recovered
post-COVID but our numbers in the 4-11 age group have and are very
healthy.

including our Women & Gir15 Xl, were competitive in their leagues. The
challenge of replacing our excellent secretary was mel with the

Saffron Walden Cricket Club is an amateur club Nn by approxirnately 90
volunleers and very well supported by the wider community in the forni of
sponsors. advertisers. viwresidents, fomer players and supporters,
We do have the sgrvices of a professional groundsman which ensuros
our cricketers ptay on ¢)ne of the finest surfaces in Ihe region.
We work closely with both the Essex and Cambridgeshire cricket boards.
We also continue lo work well with local schools supplying coaches lo
over 20 primary schools via our chan￿ to Shine prcgramme. organising
assemblies to promole the club and hosting dislrict loumarnenls.
Our Trustees and Executive Comrnittee have continued to meet on a
regular basis and our finances remain stable.

It is the dub's intention to budget for a break even wsilion ea¢h year.
Our unrestricted reserves therefore comprise ground machlnery and
other equipment vital lo the operation of the club's main ground al the
Anglo American Playing Fields and a working capital balance sufficlent lo
meet ongoin9 costs through the close season. Restricted reserves relale
to the net cages and the development of the Nursery End.
