physical or mental illness by provlding fam base(J activities designed to devebp their skills and Improve their
condilions of life.
The TnJ*ees have paid due regard to guidance issued by the Chartty Commisslon in deciding what aclivities the
chaiity should undertake.
This year has been particularfy busy for Cowran Care as we have worked throughout in a number of areas.

Many have mental heahh issues, or complicated home and social live&
d. Some are involved in antlsoc4d behaviour or with the Justice System. This area of work demands
incTrasing use of our ser¥ices in providi￿ vocational qualifications and WOTk practlo.
e. Schools have increasing numbefs of young p&¥le requiring altem8tiV8 curriculum. to the po¥it that this
coukl become all consuming relatlve to our other target groups
f. This group is perhaps not most needy vthen it comes to allocaling our limited resources

We have delivered successful programmes during Summer. Easter and Christmas holidays, for
a number of years.
These arè fijnded by Central Govern￿nt to provide those enlitl&Y to Ftee School Meals with a
mid-day meal during school holidays. This ts for those up to 16 and as v￿1 as the meal
involves a programme of youth work.

increasing numbers and skills and extending the range of engagement of youth people

The Company is governed by the Mernrandum and Artlde5 of Association adopted at a general meeting on 30

Mrs AM Diss MBE DL (Principal) is responsible for the day to day running of the Company and reports to the
Board. She is supported by the Chairman. Financ8 Manager and Company Secretary.
The Board have appolnted Mrs Lynne Murray to oversee those issues where a conflict of interest mlght arise.
NorE of the TnJste8s has any beneficial interest in the company. All of the Trustees are members of th8 company
8nd guarantee to contribute £1 in the event of a winding up.

Ireland" ("FRS 102.) and the Charities SORP "Accountlng and Reporting by Charities: Statement of
Recomm8nded Practice 8pplicable to charities pr8paAng their accounts in accordance with the Financial
Reporfng Standard applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland (FRS 102)" (effective 1 January 2019). The
charity is a Public Benefit Entity as defined by FRS 102.
Th8 charity has taken advantage of Ihe provisions in the SORP for charities not to prepare a Stslem8nt of
Cash Fh)ws.

12 Golng concem
At the ￿rne ol approving the financial statements, the Trustees have a reasonable expectation that the charity
has adequaté reS0￿CeS to continue in operational existence for th8 foreseeable future. Thus the frustees
continue to adopt th8 going concem basis of ac¢ounting in preparin9 the financial statements.
1.3 Charltable funds
Unr8Stricted funds are available for use at the discretion of th8 Trust8es in furth8rance of théir charitable
objectlves.
Restricted funds are subject to speciflc conditions by donors or grantors as to how they may be used. The
purpose8 and uses of the restrict8d funds are set out in the notes to the financial statements.
Endowment furKls are subject to specific conditions by donors that the capital must be malntsined by the
charity.
1.4 In¢ome
Incorne is recognised when the charity Is legally entitled to it after any performance condltions have been met,
the amounts can be measured ffjliably. and li is probable that income will be re￿ived.
Cash donations are recognised on receipt. Other donations are recognised On￿ the charity has been notified
of the donation, unless performance conditions require deferral of the amount. Incorne tax recoverable in
relation to donations received under Gift Ald or deeds of covenant is re￿nised at the timo of the donation.
Legacies are rwnised on receipt or otherwise rf th8 charity has been notified of an imp8nding distribution,
the amount is known. 8nd re￿Ipt is axpected. If the amount Is not known, th8 legacy is treated as a

Cash and cash equivalents include cash in hand, deposits held at call with banks, other short-tem liquid
investrnents wlth original maturllles of three months or less. and bank overdrafts. Bank overdrafts are shown
wlthin borrowings in current Ilabillties.
1.8 Financial instruments
The charity has elected to apply the provisions of Section 11 'Basic Financial In5trumenls' and Section 12
'Other Flnancial Instruments Issues, of FRS 102 to all of its finanoaj instruments.
Finanaal instrum8nts are recognised in the chariys balance sheet when the charity becomes party to the
contractual provisions of the instrument.
Flnancial assets and liabilitles are offset, with the net amounts presented In the flnanclal statements. when
