4CORBY CHILDREN TRUSTEES’ REPORT FOR THE YEAR ENDED 1 APRIL 2023

Structure, governance and management

4Corby Children is a Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO) registered in England on 10 June 2014 and governed by a constitution dated 30 May 2014.

The trustees who served during the year were Hannah Howe Sandra Mole Jean Addison Elizabeth Barr Katherine Rutter (resigned 20.09.2022) Joanne Greer (appointed 21.01.2022)

New trustees are briefed on their legal obligations under charity law, the contents of the constitution and the objectives of the CIO. The board aims to have a diverse membership which accurately reflects the communities of Corby.

Objectives and activities

The objectives of the CIO are to advance the care and education of children aged 0 - 5 years for the benefit of the public by:

Supporting the work of Children's Centres in Corby and the work of early years education/care generally.

Supporting local parents to engage more with their child's care and education and local Children's Centre and increase their knowledge and capacities to help them support similar organisations and the education of their children.

Providing or assisting in the provision of additional equipment and resources for Children's Centres over and above what may be required to be provided by the statutory authorities.

Achievements and performance

During the year the CIO was successful in being awarded grants from the following grant providers

North Northamptonshire Council

£2,600 for the Corby Cosies Project. The aim of this project was to offer support for vulnerable families living in the most disadvantaged areas of Corby, around fuel poverty by suppling bedding and warm clothing.

Marks & Spencer Neighbourly Limited

£1,000 to help provide fresh food through the Pen Green Pantry and to help with fuel costs for families in need.

Northamptonshire Community Foundation Margaret Giffen Community Fund £3,000 to provide warm lunches for children and families.

During the year the CIO also received donations of £1,591.05

Plans for the future

The CIO will continue to seek new funding opportunities to advance the care and education of children aged 0 – 5 years for the benefit of the public. It will also plan publicity and marketing to promote the activities of the CIO across Corby.
