THE RELIEF OF PHYSICAL AND MENTAL DISTRESS BY PROVIDING EMOTIONAL AND PRACTICAL SUPPORT TO ANY PERSONS WHO HAVE BEEN A VICTIM OF RAPE OR ARE EXPERIENCING PHYSICAL, MENTAL OR SEXUAL ABUSE, IN PARTICULAR BUT NOT EXCLUSIVELY, BY PROVIDING TEMPORARY SUITABLE REFUGE, AND RECUPERATIVE BREAKS ON REQUEST, FOR WOMEN AND THEIR CHILDREN WHO ARE EXPERIENCING SUCH ABUSEB. TO EDUCATE AND INFORM THE PUBLIC, THE MEDIA, THE POLICE, THE COURTS, SOCIAL SERVICES AND OTHER AGENCIES ABOUT THE PROBLEMS FACED BY PERSONS WHO ARE VICTIMS OF RAPE, DOMESTIC ABUSE AND CHILD ABUSE.
