| Summary of the objects of the charity set out in its governing document Summary of the main activities undertaken for the public benefit in relation to these objects (include within this section the statutory declaration that trustees have had regard to the guidance issued by the Charity Commission on public benefit) |
The objects of The Brook Church (Bagshot) for the public benefit are to advance the Christian faith in accordance with the Statement of Beliefs, in Bagshot, Surrey and in such other parts of the United Kingdom or the world as the Spiritual Leaders, Charity Trustees and Members may from time to time see fit. |
|---|---|
| Firstly the trustees confirm that they have had regard to the guidance issued by the Charity Commission on public benefit. The church continues to be open on every other Saturday morning to the whole community from 10.00am to 12.00 noon for refreshments and cakes. This is particularly appreciated by the more senior members in the local community, especially now the restrictions relating to Covid-19 have ended. The church was generally open, with someone on site on Monday and Tuesday between 12.00 noon and 2.00pm, where anyone can come in enjoy light refreshments and either sit and talk or enjoy the peace and quiet in their lunch hour away from their place of work in Bagshot. We continue to meet together for the Sunday morning services at 10am, which are Livestreamed on YouTube as well, and talks are subsequently uploaded to the church website, which has been refreshed under a new domain name this year: thebrookchurch.co.uk We also hold a Monday evening prayer meeting and a Wednesday evening Homegroup. The church financially supports two children through the organisation Compassion, one in Ghana and one in Uganda. The church partners with Open Doors a charity who support persecuted Christians around the world and the church donates to them as well. |

Section D Achievements and performance
Summary of the main achievements of the charity during the year Our Youth and Children’s W ork has continued this year, with church volunteers doing all the youth and children’s work between them. As a church we continue to partner with “The Besom” in C amberley which provides food, new baby and kitchen starter packs to people who have hit a crisis. It works only on referrals from Citizens Advice, Frontline Debt Advice, Churches, Social Housing, Social Services, Surrey Heath Borough Council, Surrey County Council and schools and nurseries. The Brook Church (Bagshot) contributes by having a large collecting box in the church where people donate to The Besom. We have a church coordinator who makes sure what we give is taken to The Besom and distributed to people. The church building has been in regular use to support the community work of local organisations. We invite the local community for refreshments in the Brook Church at various Bagshot village events, particularly at Christmas and Easter, and also to everyone from other local churches to join us after the Good Friday walk of witness. Following the church A.G.M. in November 2023 it was agreed to make the following donations :- 1) £700 to “T he Besom” in Camberley, which provides which provides food, new baby and kitchen starter packs to people who have hit a crisis. 2) £700 to Camberley Youth for Christ, a local organisation who work in local secondary schools, including assembles, lessons and one to one work with children. 3) £700 to Christians Against Poverty, a U.K. organisation who provide debt management and help to people. 4) £700 to Compassion for their food programme to children abroad where they are involved. These donations came out of the 10% the church sets aside from its unrestricted income. A mission trip abroad was made by two Members of the church to help Christian refugees. A Member of the church serves on the chaplaincy team at a large local hospital. This person is also involved in prison ministry as well.
