Section D Achievements and performance
Summary of the main achievements of the charity during the year
Meetings are held weekly, alternating between Abingdon and Didcot, in local pubs, so there is no cost to the Charity for rooms or meeting places. The meetings are open to all, with no fixed agenda, just a social event at lunchtime and are invariably well attended.. We are well supported by the local press and television particularly when supported with donations from local businesses.
With no costs for meeting rooms general fundraising alleviates the need for subscriptions and provides sufficient funds for outings and social events during the year. Specific fundraising events have added funds towards the purchase of an adapted minbus.
Meetings enable members to exchange views, experiences and advice with the occasional help of staff from Oxfordshire Carers and other relevant professionals, who help maintain close contact with local and central government and NHS services.
