Achlevements and Performance- Chalr's Report
2020121 has been somewhat of a challen8e for the commrttee, unable to hold face to face
meetings we trled our best through zoom and Whatsapp but those app5 cannot ￿place the abilty
to discuss everythln8 in "one 80" and talk about things In 8re* detail.
After our last AGM it was obvK•us that we wouldn't be able to hold our annual Chrlstmas Fair
because of covld. In the new yeaf when there wa5 tslk of easin8 restrictions committee decided to
hold the Easter Egg hunt, changing thin85 50 that rt would compty wrth Government guidelines.
We did have a few concerns not knowing whether the changes woubj hinder our chances of
raising funds but we need not have worried. We sohj a record number of entries and than￿ to the
very generous donation from Specs3￿1$ of all the Chocolate e885 we made a substantial profit.
With restrictions lffted even more. the Commrttee were able to organise a very 5uc¢essful
Halloween Disco in October. We chose io limit the number attending thi5 year by pre selling the
lickeis, again a good decision as we mana8ed to sell them wiihin a couple of weeks, allowing us to
order the righi an￿￿nt of Supplies thus maximising the profits.
usual￿ whitst organising the Disco the commrttee start preparatlons for the Chrlstamas Fair.
Unfortunatety, rt became obvious quf(e earty on that we wouldn't have the man power to hold a
Christmas Fair this year. but hopefully this event will back on next year. Rather than doing
nothing it was decided to hokl a Chri5tma5 raffle. which will be drawn in a cou
le of week5.

Committee and staff helped wtih Santa's Sleigh, collectiWd money from the village residents for the
Pre-school, St.Swithuns Church and the Rotary Club.
Unfortunatety, it has been diffKult for the committee to focus on the"LeadeTship & Management"
role over the past year. this is an ext￿MelY vital role- supporting Julie and all the other members
of staff with the regulations th* they have to adhe￿ to. This realty has to be the committees

Pre-school Artivlties- Managèr's Report
Consldering the challenges we have faced in the last year, I feel that Pre-school ha5 done
much better than expectedl We welcomed our new Deputy Manager, Heather, to the
setting in October 2020 and have since pulled tO8ether as a team to shape the wav
forward for the Pre-school. Children start wlth us with a great ran8e of skills and
experiences that shape who they are (their Cultural Capitsll and we build on this Capital
before sayin8 8oodbye when they go to the next chapter of their lives; school. They are
usually confident, chatty children who happily come through those metal gates with a
smile on their faces, ready to engage with the activities. children and adults that are
present. Then upheaval of Coronavirus did not. thankfully, unsettle the children too
adversely and we did not see the affects of lockdown too severely with our children, a5
other settings have done. We have found different ways to en8age with our families and
using Tapestry has helped to share MO￿ activities so parents can 'have a 80. at home

practitioners spend less time on paperwork and more time on meaningful interactions
with the children. Unfortunately the downside to this is that we then spend time
feviewin8 and tvftaking our curriculum until it reflects the current guidance so although
more time is actually spent on paperwork initially. the hope is that once the new
curriculum and language become embedded in practice. the less paperwork wlll
eventually be needed.
The Pre-school staff, as ever, have been Supporti￿ and hard-working. They embrace the
changes set before them and put up with a bit of naggingl The have had to deal with
stressful sltuations over the year, namely school bubble isolations and collection5 of
children because of coughing but have eventually seen light at the end of the tunnel. We
have been fortunate that staff and the setting ha¥E not been directly affected by Covid but
it has always added to the stre55 of bein8 in the back of our mind5. Luckily, we now have
two members of supply staff that we can call upon if needed. Wellbein
of staff and

children is now going to be at the forefront of what we do: yoga sessions are already in
place soon to be followed by mindfvlness awareness and emotions.
Many thanks to all members of staff for their support over the last year. Pre-school would
definitely be a much poorer place without any one of you, as would l. Thanks to Jane for
putting up with my mistskes. thank you to the committee for your hard work and giving
up your time to make Pre-school a better place for the children. Finally, a big thank you to
the parents for being supportive and understanding: your children are a credit it to you
and make Pre-school a fantastic place to work.
Flnanclal Review- Treasurerfs Report

July 2020.
Staffin8 hours were reviewed at the start of the year and allow for the mana8ement and
administration of the Pre-school to continue at the hi8h level expected by both stsff and
parents/carers. The overall staff costs at the end of the year were £49.7k, again slmllar
costs to last year.
A summarylbfeakdown the fundraising activities has also been provided for Informatlon.
Fundraisin8 attivities continue to be a vital source of income. In the year. we have rnised
£25C(i. In addition to the committee fundraising artivities. a £ii)Xl grant was received
from District Councillor Paul Wood, a donation of £534 from The Rotary Club Santa Sleigh

in the next financial year to improve the outside kitchen and play area.
For the next financial year 2021122 a forecast for the year has been undertaken and a cash

on the current numbers of children anending.
Given the healthy cash balance held. it is SU8gested an amount of £20k is set aside for
contingency purposes.
