Section D Achievements and performance
Summary of the main achievements of the charity during the year
In 2024/25 there was significant change to the Committee, with new Chairs and events team. This brought new ideas and energy, resulting in a successful fundraising year and ambitious plans to enrich the experience for pupils at Rutherford House School.
After taking a year off in 2024, the Friands of Rutherford House School once again held its main ‘Spring Fling’ fundraiser in 2025. This, along with the Summer and Winter fairs (including their sponsorship from a local estate agent) were the primary fundraising events.
The primary fundraising goal was to pay for a new IT room. The expenditure for that will show in the 2025/26 return.
In addition, the FRHS also received a generous (£10k) donation from a parent, for the specific purpose of providing new hardware for the new IT room.
As a result of this income, but that the payments for the new plans had not yet been made, FRHS ended the year in a significantly more favourable financial position than when it began. Reflecting this, we moved some of the money (£30k) into an interest-bearing time deposit.
The main purchases were a combination of new sports equipment and funding more school trips (£15,139). This included gymnastics kits (£1048), new football goals and golf equipment. We funded a new young enterprise scheme for Year 6 from an external provider (LifeLab, £3000).
In addition, we met our usual recurring spend to enrich the pupils experience (music, PE, books) and helped with Pupil Premium funding of school trips.
The result was a net cash inflow of £39,724. In 2025/26 this will be spent on creating a new IT room, and providing a chromebooks and robotics kits for it.
