## **Summary of the objects of the charity set out in its governing document**

The objects of the CIO are, for the public benefit, the advancement of the Christian faith in such ways that the charity trustees may from time to time decide.

CCS meets in the church building at 43 Barnard Street, Salisbury, on weekends for worship, and midweek for other church and community activities.

**Summary of the main activities undertaken for the public benefit in relation to these objects (include within this section the statutory declaration that trustees have had regard to the guidance issued by the Charity Commission on public benefit)**

Our Sunday worship services are typically followed by refreshments and then Sunday School, during which time adults and children gather into age-specific groups for study, discussion and building relationships. The children’s Sunday School is led by Mrs. Rachel Finch, with other teachers providing assistance with children as needed.

Our meetings took place online during the lockdown periods in the pandemic, but we resumed in-person meetings as soon as the regulations allowed for this. Almost all regular attendees and members have returned to our meetings, and the church membership remained stable during this period.

We have established a new mercy ministry team seeking to meet the needs of the people in the city.

Our Minister, Revd. Mark Payne, was appointed on 1st July 2019 and continues in that role.

## Section D Achievements and performance

**Summary of the main achievements of the charity during the year**

We continue to host a monthly church lunch on the first Sunday of each month, for all who attend on the day and for local friends and neighbours. A regular “Food & Chat” will also resume soon on Tuesdays, providing a hot meal and a time for building relationships, specifically for those resident at the Alabare hostel across the road from the church building. We also continue to care for those in our community by providing hospitality, transport to hospital appointments and care during “shut-ins”.

Our 'Holiday Tots and Toys' group continues to be well received within the community, and ran successfully in the holiday breaks bringing in Mothers, Fathers, childminders and Grandparents from the Salisbury area for a fun morning for their children, followed by refreshments. Guests have grown from 5 to 14 families.

The involvement of one of our church members in the “Street Pastor” ministry in Salisbury and the surrounding areas, has also resumed. This work helps to combat problems associated with alcohol, sexual assault and drugs.

We plan to continue with our community discussion events entitled “Conversations About Life”, which launched at the start of 2020, in the new year. These events, which are open to all, regardless of belief, are ones in which we invite expert guest speakers to address topics such as science, health, archaeology and other disciplines. Our hope is that this will foster good discussions in Salisbury about important issues which affect us all.
