Green Tree House Trustees Report for the year ended 31 July 2023

Structure, Governance and Management

Nature of governing document

The organisation was registered as a Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO) on 23 May 2014.

Aims and objectives

To Provide activities for the young and older community people within Biddulph and Congleton communities, irrespectively of age, disability, and gender.

Summary of the main activities undertaken for the public benefit

Aim to support the community of food poverty or hardship with using our food clubs and food banks in Biddulph and Congleton.

The food clubs’ annual numbers for the whole year of the community we support are as follows:

Biddulph

Food Club/Bank Tickets - 3560 tickets Beneficiaries - 1780 beneficiaries Expanded Beneficiaries - 5338 expanded (family members) Increase - 23.5% increase on previous year Congleton Food Club/Bank Tickets - 5695 tickets Beneficiaries - 1891 beneficiaries Expanded Beneficiaries - 8542 expanded (family members) Increase - 79.8% increase on previous year

These increases are due to the cost-of-living crisis.

Public Benefit

The trustees of the Charity are aware of the Charity Commission’s guidance on public benefit and have had regard to it in their administration of the Charity.

Use of volunteers

All our volunteers have given their free time to help to support the group activities and support the food clubs/bank in Biddulph and Congleton.

Summary of the main achievements during the year

The Biddulph Food club/bank is well established in Biddulph and used very well. The Congleton Food club/bank has now got established roots in Congleton. Last year we were given a small room from another charity for free rent but unfortunately that option came to an end and the food club/bank had outgrown the room. On this basis we gained the option to lease our own shop in Lawton Street Congleton. It has turned out to be a success and allow us to keep supporting the community of Congleton. This has allowed the charity to have stability in Congleton.

The support group outings and activities have gained more attendees, i.e. Craft Club, Warm place project (in conjunction with Biddulph Town council), These support activities have been a massive lifesaver for the vulnerable persons of the community.
