|Summary of the main<br>activities in relation to<br>those purposes for the<br>public<br>benefit,<br>in<br>particular, the activities,<br>projects<br>or<br>services<br>identified in the accounts.|Para<br>1.17<br>and<br>1.19|- LSPCA UK focuses on supporting<br>veterinary and education programmes for<br>the benefit of animal welfare, particularly<br>with: LSPCA Malawi (including the Centre<br>for Animal Welfare’s programmes and<br>LSPCA’s Veterinary Hospital, the only one<br>in Malawi), Malawi’s Veterinary School at<br>Lilongwe University of Agriculture and<br>Natural Resources (LUANAR) and the<br>Malawi Veterinary Association.<br>- LSPCA UK trustees agreed a £4340.00<br>grant to LSPCA Malawi for veterinary<br>equipment (anaesthetic machine, oxygen<br>generator, x-ray cassettes). The equipment<br>was shipped to Malawi in March 2023 and<br>continues to enable LSPCA Malawi to<br>provide a high standard of care for patients<br>at their veterinary hospital in Lilongwe.<br>- Adam Tjolle, Chair of the Board visited<br>Malawi in April 2023 and met with LSPCA|





|||Malawi<br>CEOs<br>and<br>staff.<br>Discussions<br>included promoting LSPCA Malawi courses<br>for veterinary students to UK vet schools<br>which is a public benefit by providing the UK<br>students with an excellent opportunity to<br>expand their clinical skills and learn more<br>about tropical veterinary medicine. Adam<br>also met with LUANAR veterinary school<br>staff and former and current veterinary<br>students. This included some of the first<br>graduates of the school, who joined the<br>learning visit organised by LSPCA-UK to<br>Scotland in 2019. Adam continues to<br>support the vet school and its veterinary<br>students.<br> -Donnamarie O’Connell, volunteer board<br>secretary to the LSPCA UK Board, visited<br>Malawi three times in 2023, including<br>meeting with Adam and LSPCA CEOs. She<br>additionally<br>met<br>LSPCA<br>CEOs<br>on<br>subsequent<br>visits<br>to<br>discuss<br>current<br>activities of the veterinary hospital and<br>animal welfare programmes.<br> -LSPCA UK continued to support LSPCA<br>in Malawi through veterinary and animal<br>welfare guidance. The Chair maintained<br>contact with LUANAR veterinary graduates<br>and continued to explore opportunities for<br>collaboration<br>between<br>LSPCA/LUANAR<br>and UK universities.|

LSPCA’s veterinary hospital<br>continues to be the only veterinary hospital<br>in the city and the only veterinary facility with<br>a comprehensive diagnostic capability. This<br>was further enhanced in 2023 with the<br>equipment provided by LSPCA UK’s grant.<br>- LSPCA continues to provide internship<br>placements<br>for<br>LUANAR<br>veterinary<br>students,<br>and<br>international<br>veterinary<br>students including from the UK, which is<br>also easier with expanded clinical and office<br>space.<br>- LSPCA UK is working with LSPCA to<br>further expand international vet student<br>placements.|
