CONSTITUTION AND OBJECTS The Norwegian Kindergarten in London was established on 8 May 2014 as a private company limited by guarantee (Company Numb8r". 9031159) and registered 8s a charily (Registered Number". 11571451. It is governed by ils Memorandum arml Artides of AssoLiation. The lfjr)dergarten opèned on 1 August 2014. The principal object ol the charity is lo promote the edUtion ol Norwegianlscandinavian children aged between 2-5 years in the Uniled Kingdom. STRUCTURE, GOVERNANCE AND MANAGEMENT The Norwegian Kindergarten in London is an English Independent SChCl for children aged 2-5. Since Seplember 2015 Ihe board has 4 Govemots who are also Directors of The Norwegian Kindergarten in London. The Board had five meetings this year. The Kindergarten is fin8nced solely from fees. Policy is deterfnined by the GoverrK)rs and is carried out by the Head Teacher. The Deputy Head Teacher assisls the Head Teacher in the day to day managemenl of the Kindergarten's academic and non academic mallers. BOARD OF GOVERNORS None of the Govemors received any remuneration or reimbursement during the year. The Governors are charity trustees, as well as direclors and members of the company. REVIEW OF ACTIVITIES The NOne918n authorities ruled that Ihe Kindergarten could no k>ftger be part of The Norwegian SchoDI in London Limited and so on 1 Augus12014 The Norwegian Kindergarten in London was sel up as a separate le9al entity. Existing pupils and staff were transferred lo the new entity from 1 August 2014. The Norwegian Kindergarten in London provides Nursery School Education for NorwegianlScar)dinavian speaking children aged 2 to 5 al its Premises in Wimbtedon, foll¢Mng the Norwegian curriculum. The Kindergarten aims to be "The natural Choi for Norwegianlscandinavian families in London.. For the Kindergarten year $18rting August 2022. the Kindergarten had 4 full or part lime employees and for the K1ndeigarten year starting August 2023 Ihe Kindergarten had 4 full or part lime employees. Mondays Thursdays from 8..30 ulllil 15'.30 and Fridays 8=30 uniil 14.30. The kindergarten also offer early drop off from 8am and late pick to 4pm (exp1 FridayEI lo an additional wsl The Kindergarton has the same holidays as The Norwegian School. At the start of each academic year the Head Teacher sends information about the plans lor the Kindergarten's main activities lo the parents, and this is followed up by weekly newsletters. The parents also receive information during the year about changes in the curriculum and other policy related matters. The teachers follow agreemenls set out in the Employee Handbk. The kindergarten staff have gUlar planning and strategy meetings. Usually there ar8 also five Inset Days per year, during which staff trainin9 takes plac6. PLANS FOR THE FUTURE The fulufe priorities are set out as follows.. 11 Teaching. NK aims lo ensure a high qu81ty teaching by employing exc*llent tead)ers and assistsnls and raising the level of their competency. 21 Personal Development and Soctal Skills- NK aims lo ensure 8 safe and Suprt1¥e leaming environrnenl caring for all d)ildren, induding children with individual abilities and needs. NK will ensure that staff have the appropriate qualifications and training to caler the academic and social welfare and development of all chikjren. whether they are resident in London for a shorter or longei period. 31 Organisalion., NK shall be fflan8ged 50 Ihal staff, facilities and resources are used optimally and in accordance with applicable laws regulations. Health and Safety standards shall be observed al all times. NK will emphasise the development and implemeniation of Heallh and Safely policies and procedures. For this reason. Ihey continue lo adopt the goin9 Concern basis in preparing the financial siatgments. ACHIEVEMENTS AND PERFORMANCE The Kinder9arten has not had any new Osted inspections since 2022 and remains identified as a good school. The results from using observations are used in further planning and setting goals for the pupils. We facilitste learning through play and social interaction. During Ihe year the siaff Mpleted courses to keep wlhin the Otsted requiremenis. In Ihe spring of 2023 a member of staff completed SENCO training lo become the Special Educational Needs Coordinator of the Kindergarten. This staff member has also attended the SENCO meetings arranged by the council. In the autumn of 2023 all staff attended mandatory Paedialric First Aid courses. We had fv40 new members of stsff completed Ihe course for the first lime and members of staff thal compleled this as a refresher course, due to il being 3 years Sin their last course. Two members of staff have attended Designated S8feguarding Lead 1 courses. One member of staff has attended Ordinarily Available courses. The kindergarten appreciales its restK>nsibilily to minimis6 its impact on the environmenl and implements 5¢hemes such as walkiny to school. to reduce the Kindergartens negative footprinl on the environment. We also hav& good routines implemented in the classrooms w¢th both staff and Ihe children lo recycle Ihe excess alerials we use. PUBLIC BENEFIT The Governors have given careful consideration to the Charity Commission's general 9uidance on public benefit and in particular lo its supplefflentary public benefit guidan on advancing education and on fee Charging. The provision of public benefit mainly caters for Norwegianlscandinavian cilizeris in the local area. As a main rule all children take part in school trips. excursions. visils to theatres at no extra charge. Milk is plovided free of charge for lunch. The Norwegian Kindergarten welcomes pupils from all backgrounds and nalion81ities. Additional public benefits indude.. Providing facilities for farnilies for birthday parties and other occasions and celebrations. Providing access for children and families to the Schwl grounds. playground and tennis court outside school hours al no charge. The Kindergarten pafkncipate in fundraising for Comic Relief. Children in Need and Christmas Jumper day (Save the Children Fund) and olher charily evenis. The Kindergarten visits neighbouring institution for senior cilizens. REMUNERATION OF KEY PERSONNEL The Governors are responsible for settin9 the pay and remuneratK)n of key management personnel. Remuneration is sel once certain factOf5 are considered. These factors indude markel rates of pay and benchmarks against salaries in Norway.
