Annual Report
Sunday worship:
Attendance variable but some new people have joined the congregation. Services have been led by IB, visiting lay preachers AC and IC, and volunteers from the congregation. Special occasion family services are well attended. PR is hosting the Zoom link for those who are not able to attend in person.
Lighthouse Chapel International have resumed services on Wednesdays. Their Agreement will be reviewed by IB & RF
Community Activities:
Chairobics: A new tutor has taken over after the previous leader stopped suddenly. She is very popular. An average of 10 older people attend, each paying £2.50 towards the cost of the tutor. Additional people joining the group for coffee at 11am, make a donation for their drink. RF opens up, MW & GW help serve the coffee.
Mindful Exercise: Approximately 10 people attend the sessions led by volunteers KR and BD. All pay £2.50 which includes a hot drink and biscuits after during important social time. RF and JP open up for this activity.
Tai Chi: This was started at the beginning of the year by an external leader but didn’t attract enough interest to make it viable. The price was £6 which is higher than our usual activities. Toddler Group: An average of 8 children have attended weekly sessions with parents or carers. 18 children came with adults to the Jubilee Party.
The activities are led by volunteers. The leader is and organiser is GL. She is assisted by J and J P. Parents pay £1.50 for the first child and 50p for each extra child, refreshments are included.
Junior Youth Club and Holiday Activities: PR has organised a team of teachers who are keen to work with children. Junior Youth Club ran Sept October then ran out of funding. Half-term activities took place October, December, February and May. These activities have been funded by the Dept of Education via SOAR. One aim is to ensure children on Free School Meals receive a substantial meal, so we have cooked hot meals and organised art and craft activities. Average attendance for holiday activities is 25 with half the children becoming regular attendees. The grant enables room hire to be paid to the chapel and staff to be paid.

Friends of Wincobank HiIl have resumed meeting on the first Thursday of the month. They have organised different speakers including a consultation meeting for Forgemasters. They pay £40 room hire per session
.
Our Annual Garden Party was held on 1[st] May and was well attended. Craft sessions and gardening days have also been held.
Chapel Building
Cracks in chapel walls have been filled and replastered.
Stairs have been sanded and varnished. The small toilet has been repainted. Future work suggested: newly plastered walls to be repainted.
A dip in the schoolroom floor beneath pews is concerning. This will be investigated when the pews are moved to school house, when this is possible.
MW suggested fire alarm system may need upgrading and has identified a grant which may fund and remote access system and CCTV.
Grounds
Quotes have been sought for resurfacing the path with cost varying between £15k and £17k. Awaiting written quotes. In the meantime, the long path has some uneven patches and weeds that need attention.
School House
Work has already started, demolition of outhouse and replacement of the roof. This has been funded by Veolia and Sheffield City Council, with additional funding from Graves Trust for installation of an accessible WC and Sheffield Town Trust for an access ramp (funding raised 20/21).
Additional grant funding has been secured from Clothmakers Foundation for full rewire – first fix completed. Second fix to be completed when interior replastered. The rubble and debris will be removed when the external work is complete.
Access: The drive is to be fenced off from grounds and gates locked. Chapel users will have to enter by other gate until the work is complete.
Internet
LB purchased domain wincobankchapel.org and can attach website and service emails. Need to log in to Microsoft. New email address: wincobankchapel.org. Cost of website is covered by a grant from Microsoft. Steve G is transferring the content of the website which is nearly ready to connect to our domain. JL will send images. When website is complete we can add a Donate button. LB, JL & SG will continue to update.
