REPORT OF THE TRUSTEES FOR THE YEAR ENDED 31 MARCH 2025 The Trustees present their report with the financial statements of the charity for the period ended 31 March 2025. The Trustees have adopted the provisions of the Statement of Recommended Practice (SORP) "Accounting and Reporting by Charities" issued in March 2005. Background The charity was registered in May 2014 with the Objects, as quoted in the constitution being, "The advancement of education of the public by the promotion, assistance and improvement of the Portsmouth D-Day Museum and its related activities and of historic sites and other areas of cultural interest relating to the D-Day story." The charity is managed by a Board of Trustees, which meets on a regular basis. Recruitment and appointment of new trustees. New trustees are appointed by the Board, which regularly reviews the skills and experience required to operate efficiently and effectively and has a process for the recruitment of additional trustees. A trustee induction pack has been produced and training can be made available. Risk Management

The Trustees meet regularly to oversee policy and finance matters and plan activities. OBJECTIVES AND BENEFITS Public Benefit The Trustees confirm that they have referred to the guidance contained in the Charity Commission's general guidance on public benefit when reviewing the charity's aims and objectives and in planning future activities. ACHIEVEMENT AND PERFORMANCE The overarching purpose of the Trust is to keep alive the stories of D-Day and the Norn]andy campaign in order to honour the ingenuity, courage and sacrifice of those who took part. Through a spirit of partnership, our aim is to complement and support the ongoing operation and development of the Portsmouth D-Day Story as the UK'S national D-Day hub, bringing the D-Day narrative to life for the 21. century, explaining how ordinary people played extraordinary parts in a turning point in history, and reveal D-Day's legacy for the present day. The Trust will offer a broad range of support, including, but not necessarily restricted to, funthaising for specific ongoing projects. programmes and initiatives. It will provide help and support in an independent, supporting non-executive, ex-otTicious role. to complement the leadership of the D-Day Story by the City Council and Museum Service. It will also provide help and guidance across a range of development activities, and by attending regular meetings with the D-Day Story leadership, make proposals for future development, including funding. Day and associated events, the publication and launch of the "D-Day in 80 Objects" book, including funding, and various grant applications. In addition. the Trust received detailed reports from the D-Day General Manager and regular updates on the Nomiandy Memorial Wall, the Trust's overall financial position and the HLF Project (Hidden D-Day). The Trust appointed four new Trustees during the year and two fonner Trustees resigned. The Trust started the financial year with funds of £54,253 and managed to raise additional income of £54,612 comprising grants totalling £30,000 from Sir Robert McAlpine Ltd. the Wates Family Enterprise Trust and the Garfield Western Trust. Each donor granted £10,000. The grants from McAlpine's and Wates funded the launch of the D-Day in 80 Objects book and the grant from the Garfield Western Trust was passed over to Portsmouth City Council to fund further educational visits. The Trust was also successful in obtaining additional donations of £5,147 and further sales of bricks and plaques on the Normandy Memorial Wall of £19,465. Total expenditure of £49.752 was incurred in the year which consisted of contributions to Portsmouth City Council of £20,00 I towards the publication of the D-Day in 80 Objects book, £10,525 for school visits, £1,560 for a donation box. the transfer of a grant of £10,000 from the Garfield Western Trust for additional educational visits. expenses associated with the Memorial Wall of £6,666 and a grant of £l.000 to a Fund Raising Consultant for work undertaken on grant applications. This resulted in funds of £59,113 at the 31 March 2025. HAMPSHIRE'S HIDDEN D-DAY PROJECT This inspiring proj ect. initiated by the Trust, is a National Lottery Heritage Fund (NLHF) supported initiative aiming to find, document and share inforniation about Hampshire's D-Day marshalling camps, where troops gathered hefore the inv&sion. The Drniect uses

and the creation of an interactive online database to map troop movements and preserve the history of these crucial preparation sites for future generations. The project has been delayed by logistical and recruitment issues. but the Trust is confident the project will be underway in 2025/26. The Trust is deeply indebted to the NLHF for their continued parthership support.
