The objects of the CIO are to preserve and protect the health of people in Calderdale and surrounds who have suffered a cardiac event or are at risk of such an event by providing facilities, support and rehabilitation.

The Trustees have fulfilled their Public Benefit requirements
We continued running classes with Covid-19 Guidance.
HEARTBEAT provided Exercise / Tai Chi classes, walks / health walks, classes and social events to meet its objectives and for the public benefit. In 2022 we ran:

Summary of the main • 72 Walks / Health Walks activities undertaken for the public benefit in relation to One 24/7 AED installed at Queensbury Golf Club. these objects (include within this section the statutory HEARTBEAT worked with the communities in Calderdale to maintain 14 declaration that trustees have public access 24/7 AED’s had regard to the guidance issued by the Charity 3 AEDs replaced after failing tests, 1 training AED purchased Commission on public benefit) 4 CPR / AED course ran for local groups. With the exception of the qualified trainers for Tai Chi and Exercise classes every activity is manned by volunteers. During 2022 no expenses or any other payments were made to any volunteer.
In addition to the Trustees, 9 unpaid volunteers helped with walks and events

The AGM approves / rejects ongoing investments proposed by the Trustees. In 2022 there were no major investments not covered by grants.
All the Trustees have been through DBS checks and First Aid Training.
We continue to offer grants for groups installing 24/7 public access AEDs.

Summary of the main achievements of the charity during the year
Membership increased from 228 to 229, including 25 who did not renew their Membership in July.
Attendances increased after Covid restrictions were lifted. Exercise Class attendance increased by 20.5% Tai Chi Class attendance increased by 23.8% Walks / Health Walks attendance increased by 27.7% Social events attendance increased by 345.8% Overall attendance increased by 31.4%
We fund all of our room hire costs, trainer costs and equipment.
We took part in the Brighouse Charity Gala and our MP Craig Whittaker’s Pensioner Fair.
Our Chair became a Trustee for Brighouse Sports Club, our venue.
