## _**STRUCTURE, GOVERNANCE AND MANAGEMENT**_ 

Northwich Multisports is a Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO) governed by its Trustees. The CIO structure provides the charity with a separate legal identity, enabling it to enter contracts and manage its affairs in its own name. 

The Trustees are responsible for the overall governance and strategic direction of the charity, ensuring that it operates in accordance with its constitution, charity law, and other relevant regulations. They also have responsibility for safeguarding, financial oversight, and risk management. 

The Trustees meet regularly to review the charity’s activities, monitor progress towards its objectives, and oversee its financial position. Due to the size of the charity, day to day management is carried out by a small team of staff and volunteers, with Trustees providing appropriate oversight and support. 

Clear roles and responsibilities are in place to support effective decision making and accountability. Trustees act collectively and decisions are recorded in line with good governance practice. 

## _**Trustee Recruitment and Induction**_ 

Trustees are appointed in accordance with the charity’s constitution. The charity recruits the Trustees with skills, experience, and knowledge relevant to its activities, particularly in relation to sport, working with children and young people, safeguarding, finance, and governance. 

When vacancies arise, potential Trustees are identified through local networks, community contacts, and recommendations. New Trustees are appointed by the existing Board following appropriate consideration of the charity’s needs and the candidate’s suitability. 

All new Trustees receive an induction which includes information about the charity’s objectives and activities, their legal responsibilities as Trustees of a CIO, key policies and procedures (including safeguarding and health and safety), and an overview of the charity’s finances and governance arrangements. 

Trustees are encouraged to update their skills and knowledge through ongoing learning and training where appropriate. 

## _**OBJECTIVES AND ACTIVITIES**_ 

Northwich MultiSports was established to develop opportunities for children and young people with disabilities and their families in the Cheshire West area. 

The objectives for Northwich MultiSport are: 

- To promote the participation of disabled children and young people by improving access to sport, recreation and leisure activities. 

- To develop learning and development by the provision of training and resources to assist people to develop their capacity and skills as coaches, volunteers and mentors.

This year our target has been to continue our support for the physical and mental wellbeing of our members along with building their confidence to try a range of new and varied activities. 

We aimed to do this through improving our provision of exciting new projects, providing nurturing sessions and more offsite activities. 

## **Vision Statement** 

Northwich Multisports’ vision is to create an inclusive, supportive and active community where children and young people of all abilities have equal access to high quality sporting and recreational opportunities. Through sport, the charity aims to promote physical wellbeing, confidence, social inclusion and positive life experiences, enabling participants to reach their full potential and feel valued within their community. 

## **Mission Statement** 

Northwich Multisports’ mission is to provide safe, inclusive and engaging multisport activities for children and young people, promoting physical activity, wellbeing and social inclusion. The charity is committed to removing barriers to participation, supporting individual needs, and working with families and the local community to deliver positive, meaningful experiences through sport. 

## _**ACHIEVEMENT AND PERFORMANCE**_ 

Charitable activities Saturday Club 

During 2024-2025, the charity continued to demonstrate strong commitment to its charitable objectives, with a particular focus on inclusive community provision. A key achievement was the continued delivery of the Saturday Club for Northwich Multisports, which provided regular, accessible sporting and social opportunities for children and young people. 

Despite operational challenges during the year, charitable activities were maintained with dedication and care. However, there was a decrease in grants and donations in 2025, primarily due to periods of illness which limited capacity for fundraising, grant applications, and donor engagement. While this reduction impacted on overall income, it did not diminish the Charity’s commitment to service delivery or the quality of support provided. 

Overall, performance in 2024-2025 reflects resilience and adaptability. The continuation of the Saturday Club and other charitable activities demonstrates the Charity’s ability to prioritise impact, even in the face of reduced funding and personal health challenges. With improved capacity moving forward, there is a strong foundation for rebuilding funding streams and expanding charitable reach in future years.

## Activities we have been able to provide this year include: 

- Painting 

- Messy Play 

- Dance 

- Fitness 

- Athletics 

- Baking 

- Sports skills practice 

- Quizzes 

All sessions are supported by committed and dedicated staff and volunteers. 

## **Holiday Club** 

During this financial year, Northwich Multisports ran activities on Tuesdays and Thursdays for all our young people, during each school holiday. These have continued to be popular as activities which are picked, and support which is given is based on the individuals' needs to participate and get the most out of our sessions. 

## **Mentoring and Volunteering** 

Northwich Multisports have helped develop the skills of young adults by providing volunteering opportunities. This has led to young people with disabilities being part of a community with responsibility for the club. Volunteers go through an appraisal system to develop and enhance. 

## _**ACHIEVEMENT AND PERFORMANCE**_ 

During the year ended 31 March 2025, Northwich Multisports continued to deliver high quality, inclusive sports activities for children and young people aged 4 to 18 years. The Trustees are pleased with the progress made during the year and believe the charity has continued to meet its charitable objectives. 

Despite the ongoing challenges faced by small charities, including pressures on funding, staffing, and access to facilities, Northwich Multisports successfully sustained its programme of activities during the year. This was achieved through the commitment of volunteers, staff, and Trustees, and through effective management of available resources. 

The Trustees believe that the charity’s work during 2024–2025 has had a positive impact on the children and young people it supports and has strengthened the charity’s position within the local community.

## _**FINANCIAL REVIEW**_ 

## **Future Financial Goals** 

The trustees are committed to strengthening the long term sustainability and impact of Northwich Multisports. Future financial goals include growing and diversifying income through grant funding, donations and community fundraising, while actively pursuing more secure and longer term funding to support and enhance core activities, including the Saturday Club. 

The trustees also aspire to build stronger financial resilience by developing reserves, investing in fundraising capacity, and maintaining robust financial governance. As funding allows, the charity aims to expand and develop its activities to achieve more beneficiaries, ensuring continued responsiveness to local need while remaining financially sound and aligned with its charitable objectives.

I report to the trustees on my examination of the accounts of the above charity (“the Trust”) for the year ended 31/03/2024. 

- **Responsibilities and** As the charity trustees of the Trust, you are responsible for the preparation **basis of report** of the accounts in accordance with the requirements of the Charities Act 2011 (“the Act”). 

I report in respect of my examination of the Trust’s accounts carried out under section 145 of the 2011 Act and in carrying out my examination, I have followed the applicable Directions given by the Charity Commission under section 145(5)(b) of the Act.
