OBJECT 1: Throughout the year Charis Tiwala has relieved the charitable need of anyone they have come in to contact with who has been a victim of or affected by human trafficking or sexual exploitation, this includes (but not exclusively): practical and emotional support, advocacy, advice & signposting, sexual health advice. OBJECT 2: Charis Tiwala has advanced the Christian faith by offering a weekly Bible study for people in or affected by the sex industry. Charis hosts a weekly prayer meeting for volunteers that would like to support the work of Charis in that way. OBJECT 3: Charis Tiwala has advanced the education of the public in the subject of the prevention of human trafficking and exploitation through attending local networking meetings with other professionals, such as the local Community Support Forum and communicating about the sector and speaking about the work of Charis at a Christian women’s event. |

Para 1.20 | Between April 2024 and March 31st2025, Charis Tiwala has directly ofered support to 47 people who have been afected by human trafcking or sexual exploitaton within the sex industry. This has been primarily through regular support sessions (which includes emotonal and practcal support), daytme and evening outreach to women working indoors and, on the street, and those at risk of transactonal sex work. Charis has also partnered with a local charity that support people experiencing homelessness, to do some outreach with them. Charis distributed 71 gifs at Christmas and informaton about their services to local women who are considered at risk. Links with other agencies includes local GP surgery, Herts County Council Health Improvement Team (where work has taken place together and plans have been made to ofer a more accessible health service and |
emotional support for women in the sex industry), the local council’s Health Inequalities team, YMCA and New Hope (homelessness charity). Charis is a stakeholder in the Hertfordshire Sexual Health Network. Charis is part of the local Community Support Forum, which is made up of public sector organisations and other local charities and led by the Elected Mayor; working together to respond to local need. Charis also attends the weekly Single Homeless Pathway (SHP) meeting and the monthly Community Protection Group (CPG). Outputs achieved by Charis Tiwala: - 225.5 hours given by volunteers for outreach to venues and women working on the streets, reaching on average 5 women per week and a volunteer group meeting to pray. - 36 volunteer hours over the year given by the trustees for meetings and training. - Regular key-work sessions with 9 women; focusing on long term emotional and practical support - Weekly Bible study group (2 hours per week) with 2 women regularly attending. - Evening weekly Drop-in sessions at a local hostel, since 2[nd] December 2024, with a total of 13.5 hours (1.5 hours per week) and on average 3 or 4 women attending per session. -

Any newly elected trustee will need to undergo an interview by an existng trustee and the Director, provide two references and have a DBS check. All trustees have a current DBS certfcate, and they undergo adult safeguarding training (which is renewed every three years). The Trustee responsible for safeguarding has a Level 3 safeguarding certfcate. |

Day to day Charis Tiwala is run by the Director (who is a paid member of staf). Charis Tiwala has two Dedicated Safeguarding Leads. The staf are accountable to the trustees about all safeguarding concerns and there is a designated safeguarding trustee. The Charity has frontline volunteers that are overseen by the Charis staf team. Charis Tiwala is an afliate of ‘Beyond the Streets’ Network. The network is run to help equip and support local projects that are aimed at tackling sexual exploitaton. Charis Tiwala is a stakeholder in Hertordshire Sexual Health Network. The charity commission has provided Charis Tiwala dispensations from publishing trustees’ names publicly, as they were satisfied there is a risk to personal danger, and they were satisfied that it is the disclosure of the trustees’ names in the TAR/Register that could lead to such a risk arising. It was on these grounds that Charis Tiwala was granted a dispensation.
