Charitable Activities
We strive lo ensura that Ford Green Hall Museum has an essential role as a community hub and 18
also an important attraction for visltors and schools offering them a fascinating insight into 171h
century lif8.
Tha main aims and activities of the Charity are:
• To maintain and grow usag8 by local schools and Ihe community and lo support their wider leaming
in subjects such as history
To maintain and improve on the number of visitors to Ford Green Hall Museum both from local
people and toudsts
To deliver community-based projects through active funding application bid writing and to work In
partnèrship with community groups, r8sidents associations and others to generate sustainab18 usag8
To expand and build on current aclivities. to improve the exisling facilities and encourage more
'friends' and volunteers to join and participate.

Achievements and pèrformance
In 2024 we celebrated 400 years of the bulldlng's hlstory and 10 years of our Trust. We portrayed
local history from 1624 to the 19208 included enactrnent group workshops and our volunteers havg
started lo research families who have lived al th& hall.
Interest in the Hall has been maintained, and vlsitor numbers have been malntalned, particularly
schools and families The visitors figures over the year were almost 10,000.
We maintained our craft fairs and welcomed the Women's Institute. vlslts from camera clubs and
sketchlng groups.

Durlng the year we have purchased more artefacts and conslderably Improved the gardan. We
supported the organising of Heritage Open Days and held a free open se551on our5elve5. We
providad an8rgy information for those in th8 local community who wer8 struggling wilh thgir 8n8rgy
pawnents funded by National Energy Aclion.
Once again, we have increased our marks from the VAQAS Vlslt England Museum monltorlng
system.
In the pastwe have receivod tha Queens award for the Voluntary Service.
Our small number of staff continue to keep the museum and its 8rtefacts al a high standard, publicise
our actlvities, manage oiir wonderful volunteers, work closely with trust88s and build rglationships with
business and the local community,
The Museum still opens Sunday to Thursday each weak plus 8Xtra openings for schools, events and
group visits.
We are a member of the Associatlon of Independant Muséums and the Historic Houses Association.
We are part ofthe Potteries Heritagg Network, a local museum umbrella group.
Our trust has always been Innovatlve and carefully conslders developing solutions lo emerging
problems, We believe Ihat we can continu8 to delivgr our aims and obj8Ctives, Duo to national
financial difficulties, the financial sUPPOrt given lo the museum from stOke￿n-Trent City Council is
uncertain but they have bought tha s6rvices of Gen￿On a marketing oonsullancy to help create 8
sustainability plan for the Museum.

Structure, governance and managomont
Naturè of governing documant
The charitable company is operated under the rules of its memorandum and artic19s of associalion
adopted on 6th March 2012 and amended on 25th April 2014 and 8th October 2021. It Is a company
Ilmll8d by guarantee and therefor8 has no sh8r8 capltal. The Ilablllty of each member in the ev8nt of
winding-up is limited to £10.
Recrultment and appolntment of trustees
Overall manag8m8nl af the charilable company is the responsibility of the trustees. who are elected
and Co-opted undèr the provisions of the memorandum of articles of association by a process of
invilalion, advertlsement and Intervlew in accordance with sald memorandum of artlcl8s of
association. New trustees are appointod by invitation from th8 existing board of trustees dependent on
any skills which Ihg new potantial trustee has to offer and which the board feels that Iherg 18 8 lack of
those skills within the charitable company. The need for any additional trustees or repl3￿Ment
trustees is also discussed by Ihe members. The trustees do not receive any remuneration or beneflt5.

Th8 reserves policy covers running ¢osts including wages, repairs and maintenance for a minimum of
months which 18 the time n8eded to bg given for 8 closure of tenancy and organising a transfer.
General unrestricted reserves at Ihe year end were £16,414 (2024:£33,5531, The trustees ￿nSIder
the unrestricted res8Nes al the year end to be insufficent, and reflating the reserves is viewed as a
priorlty for 2025126.

Grants receivable
Grants are ￿CogniSed whon the charity has an entitlement lo the funds and any condtiions ffinked lo
the grants have been met. Where performance conditions ere altaGhed to thè grant and arg yet to be
met, th@ income is recognised as a liability and included on the balance sheet as deferred income to
be re18as8d.
Expenditure
All expenditure is recognised once there is a legal or construclive obligation to that expenditure, it is
probable settlement is required and the arnount can be measured reliably, Al costs are allocated to
the applicable expenditure he8ding that aggregate similar coslg to that category. Where costs cannot
be directly altribuled to particular headings Ihey have been allocatgd on a basls consistent with the
us8 of resources, with central staff costs allocated on the basls of Ilme spent, and depreclation
chargas allocated on the Portion of the asset's U88. Other support costs are allocated based on the
spread of staff costs.

lo pay further ¢onlribulions even rf thé fund does not hold sufficient assets to pay all amploygos tha
benefits relating lo employee service in the current and prior periods.
Contributions lo defingd contribution plans are recognised in the Statement of Financial Activities
when they are due. If Contribution payments exceed the conlributlon due for service, Ihe excess is
