## **RIDING TO SAVE LIVES**

## **Year End Report April 2023 – March 2024**

This year has again been a very successful one for WSBB. Our members have risen to new challenges and excelled themselves.

Overall, the public and our supporters have continued to support the Blood Bike initiative and continued being generous with donations. This year we co-ordinated a year long campaign of Fund-raising events along with making people aware of Blood bikes and the contribution given to the NHS. We focused time this year with supermarkets in the area in particular Asda, Morrisons and Tesco but in doing this ensured we covered all 4 corners of our working area. Our talks program also continues to be successful resulting in one private donation of £10,000 following one of the talks.

Our new membership application is still increasing but at a slower rate of around 10%. We have also seen a few members leave at around 15% but a lot less than anticipated. Main reason for leaving is their working situations have changed following Covid 19. Our general customers remain the same with Rugby St Cross / George Elliot / Warwick requiring around 70% of our services. There has been a shift in the workload with Leamington rehab becoming more popular location over Rugby St Cross.

This year as part of the fund raising and awareness activity 10 of our members took part is the 5 Capitals tour. This entailed leaving Coventry on June 23[rd] 2023 and riding over the next 36 hours to the 5 Capitals of the UK. Thanks to the kind donations of the Public and more importantly local business who supported us by sponsoring riders we raised **£25,000** to purchase a new BMW R1250RT.

Overall donations have increased this year after some great fund-raising activities and the teams push on promoting Blood Bikes.

In fiscal year **2022/23** donations were **£75,168** in comparison fiscal year **2023/24** are **£83,929**

Including VAT claims our available funds as of the **31st of March 2024** are **£114.866** . This is an increase from **£74,971** in the previous fiscal year.

So on a positive note the group enters into a new financial year in the best position it’s ever been in, these funds will help with our future plans to evolve further and grow the group to provide further support to the NHS and our local community in Warwickshire and Solihull.
