## **RIDING TO SAVE LIVES**

## **Year End Report April 2022 – March 2023**

This year has again been a very successful one for WSBB. Our members have risen to new challenges and excelled themselves.

Overall, the public and our supporters have continued to support the Blood Bike initiative and continued being generous with donations. Following a very successful 2021 / 2022 winter campaign of talks to Rotary and WI groups etc we continue to see a steady stream of donations coming into the group. We have also seen new funds from the Heart of England Foundation donating a further £2000 following our grant application. We also received another £10,000 donation from South Warwickshire Foundation Trust Charity in recognition of our voluntary support of the NHS.

Our new membership application is still increasing but at a slower rate of around 20%. We have also seen a few members leave at around 25% but a lot less than anticipated. Main reason for leaving is their working situations have changed following Covid 19.

Our general customers remain the same with Rugby St Cross / George Elliot / Warwick requiring around 70% of our services. There has been a shift in the workload with Leamington rehab becoming more popular location over Rugby St Cross.

At the start of 2022 we also started our daily collection and delivery of Blood to Warwickshire and Northampton Air Ambulance service based at Bagington Airport.

This year we have replaced the car in the fleet. We purchased a Toyota CHR Hybrid car the first Hybrid vehicle in the Fleet helping with our environmental impact at a cost of **£33,346** . We did sell 1 van and 1 bike in this period giving back to the groups funds amounted to **£9250.**

Overall donations have increased this year after some great fund-raising activities and the teams push on promoting Blood Bikes.

In fiscal year **2021/22** donations were **£64,064** in comparison fiscal year **2022/23** are **£74,971**

Including vat claims and the sale of the 2 vehicles our available funds as of the **31st of March 2023** are **£104,855** . This is an increase from **£101,816** in the previous fiscal year.

So on a positive note the group enters into a new financial year in the best position it’s ever been in, these funds will help with our future plans to evolve further and grow the group to provide further support to the NHS and our local community in Warwickshire and Solihull.
