Warwickshire and Solihull Blood Bikes
RIDING TO SAVE LIVES
Year End Report April 2021 – March 2022
This year has presented WSBB with an increased level of new challenges following the relaxation of the Covid 19 restrictions. Our members have risen to these new challenges and excelled themselves.
Overall, the public and our supporters have continued to support the Blood Bike initiative and continued being generous with donations. For a 3[rd] year in a row, WHP have donated £5k to the group as part of their ongoing support. We have also seen new funds from the Heart of England Foundation donating £4000 follow our new process of applying from grants to charity’s. We have also more importantly been able to socialize again which means Talks and presentations face to face have started again which also helping with fund raising.
Our new membership application is still increasing but at a slower rate of around 20%. We have also seen a few members leave but a lot less than anticipated after Covid restrictions were removed.
Our general customers remain the same with Rugby St Cross / George Elliot / Warwick requiring around 70% of our services. Our daytime services remain successful with addition of GEH (George Elliot Hospital Nuneaton) in help release patients early from hospital freeing up beds.
Throughout this year we have replaced two motorcycles in the fleet. One of the bikes BMW R1250 RT was donated by the Warwickshire Freemason’s. The 2[nd] bike Yamaha Tracer 700 has been purchased at a cost of £9750 .
We did sell 1 van and 1 bike in this period giving back to the group’s funds to the amount of £11,000
Overall donations remain stable and if anything are starting to increase back towards pre Covid levels.
In fiscal year 2020/21 donations were £64,336 in comparison fiscal year 2021/22 are £64,064
Including vat claims and the sale of the 2 vehicles our available funds as of the 31st of March 2022 are £101,816 . This is an increase from £92,384 in the previous fiscal year.
So on a positive note the group enters into a new financial year in the best position it’s ever been in, these funds will help with our future plans to evolve further and grow the group to provide further support to the NHS and our local community in Warwickshire and Solihull.
