The children in our school have been unable to attend school elsewhere due to extreme povety or their individual complex leaming needs. The children are thriving and benefrtting from the school, socially and educationally. It is clear from our visits that the children are happy, thriving and enjoyin9 the range of aclivities we can offer through the small classes. They are benefitting from hands on leaming, extra teacher lime and leaming through play and activities alongside the more traditional Ugandan 'Chalk and Talk, education. The families and parents are delighted and grateful that their children can go to school. A benefrt we had not considered initially is the respite time this gives the children's carers, whether a single Mum with a severely autistic child or a povety stricken Grandma caring for her orphaned grandchildren whom she cannot afford to send to school. The community is benefitting by us providing work, schooling. buying local food and resources_ The community are enjoying using the football pilch and playground. The community is also seeing clearty how we value each and every one of our children and consider them worth spending lime, money and energy on improving iheir quality of life. These SEN children are often left alone and nol considered worth educating. The trustees are not benefrtting from the charity. We declare that the trustees have had regard to the guidance issued by the charty Commission on public benefrt. Summary of the main activities undertaken for the public benefit in relation to these objects (include within this section the ststutory declaration that trustees have had regard to the guidance issued by the Charity Commission on public benefit) Additional dètails of objèctives and actlvitiès {Optional inforniation) We are very grateful to all our volunteers who support us in so many ways giving their time, skn'lls and energy to the project both here and in Uganda. Section D Achievements and performance Summary of the main achievements of the charity during the year family g uniquer. 2023 at Famil of Ho 2023 has been a fantastic year as we settle back into the regular rhythm of school life. The children are thriving under our amazing staff team, and everyone is happy and smiling. We still have our five teachers. two amazing matrons, our night watchman and ourfarmer. They all work incredibly hard to look after our fabulous 75 children. Our five Ugandan trustees meet regularly to ensure everything is moving smoothly behind the scenes. The playground is still a huge hit and is used by the community as well. There are lots of options to develop imaginative play. fine and gross motor control and hand eye coordination whilst having fun I TAR Marth 2012

Section D Achievements and performance The classrooms are a hive of activity and the teachers have worked hard to make them fun and bri8htly decorated. They are providing lots of hands on learning and practical activities with plenty of movement, dance and song. In the afternoon the children have some vocational education session5. This can include mat making, rope making, pot making, basic sewing and hair braiding. TAR Marth 2012

Section D Achievements and performance Simple life skills are also part of the 3fternoon learning. The children all learn how to do their own washing as well as cleaning the dormitories and classrooms, helping with kitchen artivities and collecting the firewood. Some of the children have resposibility for looking after the cows and the chickens. They also help our farmer. Henry, on the land with clearing, planting and harvesting crops. Our wood plot is growing well and we have a new bananalmatoke plantation. The maize is growing beautifully too. The children will help to harvest the maize before it is taken to the mill to be ground into flour to make porridge and posho. We have 30 children in extreme poverty attendin8 local primary schools with their sponsorfs support. They are still making great progress at seven different primary schools. In October theyjoined us at Family of Hope for a catch up, ice cream and some dancing. TAR March 2012

Section D Achievements and performance While the trustees were in Uganda in 2023 we spent some time in the classroom5 and enjoyed doing some teaching. We made rockets and acted out the story Whatever Next. We have enjoyed the toy cars, mask making, Lego and bvbbles in the children's free time. As you can see from the photos we had lots of funl We have spent ￿me time planning a new project with the trustees and ensuring that our staff, children and parents are happy. TAR March 2012

Section D Achievements and performance Our football pitch is still used every day by our own children, other local schools, the community youth football and netball teams and for community meetings. Our children use it for ball games, running and athletics as well as supporting any community games. The Family of Hope Community Christmas Cup went ahead again this year with 12 teams joining in the fun. TAR March 2012

Section D Achievements and performance Our most exciting news is that we have bought some new land to develop our vocational education. As children reach their potential in their academic education we want to give a5 many as possible the opportunity to learn a simple trade and take their skills learning up a level following on from their afternoon sessions. We will offer farmin& animal husbandry. hairdressin& carpentry, sewing, local craft making and hopefully fish farming. While we raise the funds to build the nece55ary buildings we will farm the new land, growing m05t of our food needs. If you know of anyone who would like to help us build our new centre or companies etc who may like to sponsor a UK registered charity for a vear. please do get in touch. We would like to thank everyone who sponsors children with us. The children love receiving your photographs, letters and gifts and for a few people they sometimes get to meet their sponsor child when visiting the school. What a special experience for everyone involved. We hope you love seeing their photos as much as they enjoy seeing yours. TAR Marth 2012
