2. Structure, Governance and Management

Governing Document

The Evangelical Prayer Winners Ministry International is a company limited by guarantee formed on 18 December 2013 and registered as a charity on 17 April 2014. The charity is governed by its Articles dated 18 December 2013, as amended by a Special Resolution date 4 April 2014.

Appointment and induction of Trustees

The members of the General Trustee Board are trustees for the purposes of Charity Law. New trustees may be appointed by a resolution of the Board.

Major risks

The Trustees recognise that any major risks to which the charity is exposed need to be reviewed and systems put in place to mitigate them. To that end, the charity is continually monitoring and managing its risk and ensuring action plans are in place to mitigate its key risks. Risk is defined as the potential to fail to achieve the charity’s objectives and for loss, financial and reputation inherent in the environment in which it operates in the nature of transactions undertaken.

The principal risk has been the dependence on voluntary income. The trustees have initiated various processes to mitigate such risk, so that the charity has sufficient reserves in the event of adverse conditions.

The trustees have also examined other operational and business risks which they face and confirm that they have taken steps to mitigate the significant risks.

3. Objectives and Activities

Objects

The objects of the charity as stated in its Articles are:

4. Public Benefit

The trustees have complied with the duty in section 4 of the Charities Act 2006 and have paid due regard to public benefit when preparing this report. The benefit provided to the public is consistent with the aims of the charity in the UK.

5. Achievements and Performance

Food Bank

The Church carries out a regular donation to the various food banks in Milton Keynes which supports community ladders and fridges across the city of Milton Keynes. The aim is to help alleviate pain and poverty and to ensure nobody has to go to bed hungry in this day and age. This is usually donated every quarter to the food banks.

Children’s Programme

There are quite a few young children and young adults in the church which constitute the Youth in the Ministry. Once every two months we gather them all and organise outings for them as a recreational and educational exercise.

There were instances where they were all taken to the cinema, trips to Whipsnade Zoo and also to the Aquarium and also trips to the seaside. This is so that they get to explore outside the church and also to learn about the nature and wonder that they’re surrounded with.

Willen Hospice

Prayer winners as a ministry make donations to Willen Hospice twice a year. This is to support the nurses and occupants of the hospice who go are going through cancer treatment and may need to recuperate to give their families a break from taking care of them. This means they get proper professional help and care while they go through some of the most life-changing illnesses one could go through.

Helping the needy in the church

Prayer Winners Ministry is unique and what we do to support the needy in the church

We have the elderly and who might be going through hardship in terms of needing help with Groceries and general household items to make them comfortable in their own home

Again, we have on occasion supported people struggling to find jobs and therefore needed help in the short term. We have also supported members who were struggling to pay their rent that they can have a place to lay their heads.

Single Parents Outreach

The church also supports single parents whether in providing groceries or after school and holiday respite to make life bearable for the parents involved. With the cost of living spiralling out of control, some parents only need a little bit of help and support to make end meet as to either put food on the table or put shoes on the feet of their child or warm clothes for the winter months

Feeding the Homeless Project

We are currently in talks with a few homeless charities around Milton Keynes to see how we can be of help to the homeless

We are currently looking at cooking at our premises where the charity will drop off the homeless once a week to start with, to come to the church to eat and play games, and then later get dropped off. Once we get a bigger place of our own, we can do more to help in the local area where homelessness is concerned.

In a nutshell, the above are some of the things that we do as a church to help the community to which we live and operate, and to make families feel they are supported and cared for when the need arises.

We might not be a big church, but we pride ourselves in helping build a coherent and cohesive community for all we come into contact with; no one is left out where Evangelical Prayer Winners Ministry is concerned.
