to all concerned.
Volunteers
A great contribution is made by volunteers. We are grateful for the many hours,
volunteers have spentSUPPOrtingthe charityto spread its messagetothe worldthrough
socKal medsa, meetings and provision of goods and labour. Without these valL¢able
contributions of time.energy andexperti5e we would not have been able to achieve so
much.
Ac¢omplishments
In line with the charity objectives and ethos the board decided to look at the provision of
an upmarket5UPPOrtedaccommodationfor singlehomelesspeopleover25.Theaimand
objective5 IS to set the standard for other housing providers to follow. in other words move
awayfrom thedingy dark smelly accommodation which happens to be the Fiorm within
the homeless accommodation provision sertor. This falls in line with the charity objectives
of reconr4ecting communities and alleviating poverty. after all accommodation is the first
step in the process of rehabilitating and empowerin8 people that are homeless to take the
next Step.
In September 2015 reconnetted took over a disused and derelict hotel in the heart of china
town Birmingham and converted 5t to the only Midland purpose built specialist
accommodation for homeles5 refugees fleeing from war and social devastation.
In the last 7 years Reconnected has proiected 271 vulnerable people from imminent
rooflessness, destitution and associated effect of beinghomeless. o￿of the 271 leavers 250

CLlStomers are gainfully employed in various capacities, 18 are in college or other training
progiammes,. 13 have been supported to secure reunion Visa and reconnected with families
from Iran, Afghanistan and Iran. We continue to provide floating support to help the
remaining 3 into work or suitable traintng. 271 now have secure long term
accommodation.
Despite Reconnected's limited capacity and meagre resources. the charity. staffs and her
board continue to make enormous difference to the most vulnerable in our society.
Reconnected is little in size but mighty in effort and making change where it matters most.
Impart Assessment
As a result of the Services ￿onnected provides, we made remarkable difference to over 150
vulnerable people's lives and we will continue to carry out this most important role as we
continue to see the resultant effert of government austerity measures in our community.
Whileouraccommodation provision service remainssmall Reconnerted continuestotouch
more lives in other ways with help from all our friends.
We are conscious that what we do is not on a very large scale or attracts daily publicity, but our
impart asacharitytothecommunitycannotbeunderestimated.Reconnected continuesto make
change happen.
Value Added
The charity has worked very hard since the lockdown and distributed 25 pallets of various
food items within the communityto help and support our community affected by Covid 19.
Some of the beneficiaries include vulnerable customers from Spring Housing association,
Trident Reach, Vanguard property. Jesus Army and Sifa Fireside Midland Heart Street
Outreach Service and various others.
One of our greatest and most rewarding partnerships this year has been and still i5 With
Fareshare. We have colletted food items valued in the region of £50000 since the partnership
was signed in the summer of 2016. We also increased our store pick up from I to 3. The items
we collected have been a great help to hub customers that move in without UC or ESA in place.
Excess food 15 also passed to other local charity that requires it to support customers in need or
su)Yering from food poverty.

## **Reconnected**

## **Independent Examiner's Report to the Trustees of Reconnected**

We report on the accounts of Reconnected for the year ended 6th April 2022

## **Respective responsibilities of trustees and examiner**

The charity's trustees are reponsible for the preparation of the account. The charity's trustees consider that an audit is not required for this year under Section 144(2) of the Charities Act 2011 and that an independent examination is needed.

It is my responsibility to:-

- examine the accounts (under section 43 of the Act),

- to follow the procedures laid down in the General Directions given by the Charity Commission (under

- section 43 (7) (b) of the Act), and

- to state whether particular matters have come to my attention.

## **Basis of Independent examiner's report**

My examination as carried out in accordance with General Directions given by the Charity Commission. An examination includes a review of the accounting records kept by the charity and a comparison of the accounts presented with those records. It also includes consideration of unusual items or disclosures in the accounts, and seeking explanations from you as trustees concerning any such matters. The procedures undertaken do not provide all the evidence that would be required in an audit, and consequently no opinion is given as to whether the accounts present a true and fair view and the report is limited to those matters set out in the statement below.

## **Independent examiner's statement**

In the course of my examination, no matter has come to my attention:

1. which gives me reasonable cause to believe that, in any material respect, the requirements:

- to keep accounting records in accordance with section 41 of the Act; and

- to prepare accounts which accord with the accounting records and comply with the accounting requirements of the 1993 Act; have not been met; or

2. to which in my opinion, attention should be drawn in order to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached.
