Activities / Projects / Plans in 2024 -2025

1. Membership Growth and Participation

Our association currently has 57 registered members. We welcomed three new members this year and actively encouraged participation from the wider Mannar community.

2. Meetings and Events

We successfully conducted five executive committee meetings and one AGM meeting during this period. Major events organised:

Mannar Night 2024 at Crestal Grad – 7th December

Mannar Sports Festival 2025 – Celebrated with active community participation

3. Community Support and Welfare Activities

MATERNITY WARD PROJECT: The refurbishment of the maternity ward at Mannar General Hospital is an initiative from our previous committee. Our current committee has completed the remaining work and handed the project back to the public. We are providing additional funding of £17,000. Total amount spent: £97000.00.

PERIYAPANDIVIRICHAN HOSPITAL PROJECT : Completed

EMERGENCY FLOOD RELIEF : We provided emergency relief last year in 2024.

DIFFERENTLY ABLED PEOPLE PROJECTS : The Spinal Cord Victims project was completed last year in 2024. We supported nearly 15 members in setting up their businesses. The differently abled people projects in Mannar District (DS) and Manthai West DS were completed in 2025, and the Manthai West DS project is ongoing. I am delighted to report that, with the generous support of our donors, we have completed most of the work. The funds available for the remaining work should be sufficient to complete everything by the end of the next financial year, 2026.
