## **CRAYFORD MANOR HOUSE ASTRONOMICAL SOCIETY DARTFORD TRUSTEES' ANNUAL REPORT FOR THE YEAR ENDED 31 AUGUST 2025**

## **Introduction**

At the Annual General Meeting of 20 November 2025, and in accordance with clauses 16, 13(2) and 13(3) of the Society's constitution, Mr Gary Hunt, Mr Keith RIckard and Ms Rita Whiting retired as trustees. The retirees were then-elected as trustees by majority vote of those members present at the same meeting. Mr Gary Hunt was elected as Trustee and Chairman on 3 March 2025 as a result of the number of trustees increasing from 7 to 8, and was automatically up for re-elelection on 20 November 2025. The Society's constitution has been accordingly updated.

Below is a table of the details of the last three year elections of all the current trustees.

## **Society’s Activities.**

The Society continued providing public outreach at the following events:

o Stargazing events at Hall Place in Bexley, Kent.

o Solar observing at Hall Place o Shears Green Junior School

o Scouts and Girl Guides evenings at the Society's observatory

Members supported the British Astronomical Association at various meetings and the New Scientist Live at the London Excel Centre.

As usual, 28 lectures, 8 society evenings and several informal and safe observing evenings took place.

Work started on the development of the self-contained micro-observatory containing a small smart telescope, connected to the internet at a dark remote location anywhere in the world, which can be woken by a remote user to carry out observations. Also an advanced solar scope for users to use and for public outreach was purchased.

## **Independent examiner’s report to the trustees of Crayford Manor House Astronomical Society Dartford**

I report on the accounts of CMHASD for the year ended 31st August 2025.

## **Respective responsibilities of the trustees and examiner**

The charity's trustees are responsible for the preparation of the accounts. The charity's trustess consider that an audit is not required this year under section 144(2) of the Charities Act 2011 and that an independent examination is needed.

It is my responsibility to:

- examine the accounts under section 145 of the 2011 Act

- to follow the procedures laid down in the general Directions given by the Charity Commission under section 145(5)(b) of the 2011 Act

- to state whether particular matters have come to my attention

## **Basis of this report**

My examination was carried out in accordance with the general Directions given by the Charity Commission. An examination includes a review of the accounting records kept by the charity and a comparision of the accounts presented with those records. It also includes consideration of any unusual items or disclosures in the accounts, seeking explanations from you as trustees concerning such matters. The procedures undertaken do not provide all the evidence that would be required in an audit and consequently no opinion is given as to whether the accounts present a 'true and fair view' and the report is limited to those matters set out in the statement below.

## **Independent Examiner's statement**

In connection with my examination, no matter has come to my attention:

(1) which gives me reasonable cause to believe that in any material aspect the requirements:

- to keep accounting records in accordance with section 130 of the 2011 Act; and

- to prepare accounts which accord with the accounting records and comply with the accounting requirements of the 2011 Act have not been met
