Society’s Activities.
Society members were able to meet at the Sutton at Hone pavilion as normal, receive 28 lectures, and carry out a number of outreach activities including schools and Hall Place events promoting astronomy to beginners.
Society members Keith Rickard, Martin Crow, Steve Floodgate and Andy Barber successfully motorised the dome of the Society's Dick Chambers Observatory. It now tracks and slews to where the 16" Meade LX200 telescope is pointing and allows members to control the telescope with a smart phone, tablet or PC. The impetus of this project was due to the formation of the Exo-planet Group where members could use the observatory to carry out exo-planet obseravtions.
Our meteor camera team continued to carry out diligent work in reviewing video capture files of detected meteors and providing excellent scientific data for Nemetode project.

CRAYFORD MANOR HOUSE ASTRONOMICAL SOCIETY DARTFORD
Independent examiner’s report to the trustees of Crayford Manor House Astronomical Society Dartford
I report on the accounts of CMHASD for the year ended 31st August 2023.
Respective responsibilities of the trustees and examiner
The charity's trustees are responsible for the preparation of the accounts. The charity's trustess consider that an audit is not required this year under section 144(2) of the Charities Act 2011 and that an independent examination is needed.
It is my responsibility to:
-
examine the accounts under section 145 of the 2011 Act
-
to follow the procedures laid down in the general Directions given by the Charity Commission under section 145(5)(b) of the 2011 Act
-
to state whether particular matters have come to my attention
Basis of this report
My examination was carried out in accordance with the general Directions given by the Charity Commission. An examination includes a review of the accounting records kept by the charity and a comparision of the accounts presented with those records. It also includes consideration of any unusual items or disclosures in the accounts, seeking explanations from you as trustees concerning such matters. The procedures undertaken do not provide all the evidence that would be required in an audit and consequently no opinion is given as to whether the accounts present a 'true and fair view' and the report is limited to those matters set out in the statement below.
Independent Examiner's statement
In connection with my examination, no matter has come to my attention:
(1) which gives me reasonable cause to believe that in any material aspect the requirements:
-
to keep accounting records in accordance with section 130 of the 2011 Act; and
-
to prepare accounts which accord with the accounting records and comply with the accounting requirements of the 2011 Act have not been met
