Strutture• govemance and management 8 Below Husky Rescue is an unincorporoted association registered Chority, number 1156670, was constituted ioth February 2014 ond estoblished on 14th April 2014. Prior to this dt7te we ron as a rescue for a yeor. When we recognised how successful both re-homing rates ond dont7ted income from supporters had become, the next step wa5 to register with the Chority Commission in Englond and Wale5. It would allow us to be seen as o registered charity, which would open up more ovenues for us such 05 applyfor grants Gndfunding ond eventuolly gift aid on donations. We alsofelt that with the transparency requiredfrom charity status and the oppointment it wouldput people ot ease more when it comes tofundraising and donations QS being o stondard rescue with no chority 5totU5 hos no official governance.

New trustees ore oppointed by the current trustee board based on their commitment to the charity. Trustees will continually serve unless either party decide to terminate their position for the good of the charity. The constitution requires the chority to run on o minimum of 3 trustees. We currently have four with Timothy Wicks hoving the deciding vote if required. There are no plan5 to increase our board of trustees in the comingfinonciol year. All trustees give their time freely ond no trustee remunemtion was paid during the year. Details of trustee expense5 and reloted party transactions ore disclosed in note 2 to the accounts. Trustee5 are required to disc105e all relevant interests and register them with the Chairman. Risk Management The Trustee5 artively review ony major risks which the Chorityfaces on o regular bos15 and believe that mointaining reserves at current leve15, combined with an annual review of the controls over key financial systems, will provide sufficient resources in the event of adverse conditions. The Tru5tee5 have also exomined other operational ond business risksfaced by the Chority ond confirm that they have established systems to mitigate the most significant risks. Objertives and artlvitiesfor the publlc beneflt The objects of the Charity are to promote humane behaviour towords onimols and sled dog breeds by providing education to orders and potential owners. to prevent neglect and suffering to animGIs. The Chority 0150 provides security. protection and care appropriote for such dogs which need care and ottention by reosons of sickness, maltreotment, poor circum5tonces and ill usoge. The trustees confirm that they hove referred to the guidance contuined in the Chority Commission's general guidance on public benefit when reviewing the Chority's aim5 and objectives and in planningfuture octivitie5. The Charity corries out these objects by.. Seeking new homesfor the dogs by publicising via social media and attending events. We odvertlse on our website ond use poster5 to do this. Providing education ond advice regarding onimol welfore. Home checkingfoster/odoption homes to match the dog's requirement5. TrGnsPOrting dogs to theirf05ter/adopted homes. Rehoming dogs and providing lifetime backup should they require assistonce ot o future dote and provide permanent 5UPPOrt to those dog5 that cannot be rehomed. Undertoke checks and provide support throughoutfosters and L7doption continuing Post adoption.

Offering breed specific advice to the public via the telephone, social media and ot events. Grants Received During thisfinoncial year no Gronts were received. Achievement5 and Perfomiance 2022-2023 continued with the impactfrom the pandemic bothfinancially with having to clow bock105t incomefrom concelled events and with the number of dogs needing out help. Our largestfundroiser5 Leeds Camp and Open Doy 2022 wos back, ond it was our biggest to date- it was amozing to get all oursupporters back togetherandseeing the public come along to support Us on our open day was amazing. This was followed by o number of in person fundraising events ocr055 the country and our store days with Pet5 Qt Home Pontefroct returned fully too. 2022-2023 Saw o big demand for our online fundroi5ing which was implemented based on government guidelines the year before, we have continued this with succe55 to help raise vitolfunds- these included the onlinefundr0i5ing of auction5 and raffles, virtual challenges ond regular online dog shows. We predicted that the numberof dogs during lote 2022-2023 and beyond wouldsee significont increoses, with current levels of dogs needing our help quadrupling from pre-covid levels. Many orriving needing medicol treotment, pora51te treotments. microchipping and spay/neutering, we have over 400 dogs Walting to come into rescue due to private relinquishe5. thi5 doesn't include the daily callsfrom councilpounds needing our help to secure a safe rescue space or the dogs serving their 7 stotutory days would be euthunised on doy 8 due to overcrowding and lock of spoce. Our online store sales have increosed. which brings additionol revenue to our rescue. We plan to odd more items in the coming year to our online store. We are now successfully signed up to the Fundroising Regulator and hove received confirmation that we are now officially Gift Aid eligible with HMRC.

Flnancial review The principal funding sources ore generol donations, Sponsorship of Specific dogs in care, donations received from adopters when the dogs are rehomed, income generoted from fundraising events ond income generatedfrom the sale of merchandise. Merchandise sales accountfor about 19% of our total income. Thi5 is not yet substantial but ha5 grown rapidlyfrom previous yeors. It 15 P055ible in thefuture.. o trading subsidiary of the Chority may be needed. We ore working on ways to incre05e the reserves policy back to the level needed and hove made some Strides in this urea this year. Longer term the Charity would like to obtain grontfundingfor Specific projects and establish a relationship with longer term sponsor5. Allfunds ore used tofurther the goals and objectives of our Chority and help os many dog5 as we ore oble. Reserve5 policy During the year it h05 been the intention that ollfunds generated Gre expended in occordonce with the objertives of the Charity. However, the Cht7rity realises thot they must build bock up the equivolent of 4 months operating costs into reserves. This would act as a buffer if there was a dmp in income or allow the orderly winding down of the Charity if required. The Charity's trustees consider that on audit is not requiredfor this year under section 144 of the Charitie5 Act 2011 ond that un independent examination is needed.
