## **Governing document**
The Charity operates under the rules of its trust deed dated 19th March 2014.
Overall management of the charity is the responsibility of the trustees who are selected and co-opted under the terms of the trust deed. Existing trustees either agree or disagree on a person usually nominated and known by people already involved in the charity.
## **Objects of the organisation**
For the benefit of the public to relieve the suffering of dogs of the breed known as the chinese crested, or any dog of predominantly chinese crested origin and type in need of care and attention and, in particular, to provide and maintain rescue homes or other facilities for the reception, care and treatment of such dogs.

The Trustees, who maintain a Risk Assessment Register, regularly review the risks to which the charity is exposed. They do not consider that there are any substantial risks beyond the ongoing liabilities disclosed in the financial statements.

## Review of progress and achievements
The Trustees have pleasure in presenting their Annual Report and the audited Financial Statements of The Chinese Crested Club of Great Britain Rescue for the year ending 31[st] December 2024.
## **Legal Status**
The Chinese Crested Club of Great Britain Rescue is a registered charity (Charity Number 1156641) and was formally registered with The Charity Commission on 11[th] April 2014.
The charity is commonly known as CCCGB Rescue or CCCGBR
## **Public Benefit**
The Trustees have considered the charity’s activities for 2024, and its plans for 2024, with regard to the Public Benefit Guidance issued by The Charity Commission. They have agreed that the activities of the charity fulfilled, and will continue to fulfil its objectives and advance animal welfare, in particular by providing veterinary treatment, caring for sick, injured, neglected or unwanted Chinese Crested Dogs and their mixes and helping to re-home them.
## **Activities**
2023/2024 saw the Rescue resume fundraising events. The Chinese Crested Club of GB Rescue now in its 9th year of operation as a registered charity.
Paws in the Park was a huge success with the addition of an extra tombola stand as well as hosting the Temptation Alley event. All our online auctions and shows also raised lots of funds for the Charity. The annual fun day in the summer, in its 14[th] year was not as busy as expected despite extra advertising.
The Charity has been well supported by Jollyes Pet Store in Runcorn and Sheffield, both resuming with great success. Jollyes continued to donate a substantial amount of dog food and treats to the rescue, as did Burns.
The Rescue has struggled to appoint new Area Coordinators and admins into roles through lack of interest.
The Charity is registered to receive gift aid on donations and this has brought in extra funds.
The Rescue has also welcomed more monthly donations from its supporters. This continues to prove successful. Though due to the bank illegally closing the account we have lost some monthly supporters.
Going into 2025 the plan is to continue attending events with our trade stands across the country. They continue to be successful fundraising endeavours as well as establishing awareness of the breed being in rescue.

## Review of progress and achievements
## **Financial Review**
Retained funds will provide the charity with working capital for future care of dogs in its care, fundraising activities and ensure continued support of The Chinese Crested Club of GB Rescue in 2025. The Rescue is thankful to have these funds in reserve which allowed it to continue to function.
## **Achievements and Performance in 2024**
● Fostering and re-homing Rescue Dogs. 24 dogs were fostered, in addition to 12 permanent fosters. 20 were successfully re-homed. The charity’s capability to match potential owners with rescue dogs proved to remain effective and with a high success rate.
● The Rescue had 12 permanent foster dogs in 2024 that were unable to be rehomed due to health and/ or temperament. These dogs were cared for in foster homes and the costs covered by the rescue. The rescue is happy that these dogs were not put to sleep and were loved, cared for and had a good quality life.
● The rescue is continually committed to increasing the skills of its volunteers and trustees and several Coordinators and Administrators were trained. Some of the volunteers completed an up-to-date data protection online course.
● The Charity was nominated for the Pet Plan Charity of the Year Award for the 10th year running. Several volunteers were also nominated.
● The rescue’s meetings and A.G.M were hindered due to personal circumstances in 2022. This improved throughout 2023, However due to Gayna’s ongoing illness, she stepped down as the Rescue Chair December 2024, and it was passed to Eileen Tonks to become the Chair January 2025.
● The rescue encountered numerous issues with Barclays bank which led to the illegal closure of the rescue account. This left the rescue unable to function properly and a complaint was lodged against the bank with the financial ombudsmen. This led to the reopening of the account and the rescue were awarded 750.00 in compensation plus interest.
● Due to an incident with a dishonest coordinator attempting to slander the rescue and several volunteers the police were contacted. We then implemented stringent measures, such as a GDPR policy and an updated volunteer agreement.
● We have implemented a new fundraising policy.

## for the year ended 31 December 2024
I report on the accounts of the charity set out on pages 6 to 8
## **Respective responsibilities of the Management Committee and the examiner**
The charity's trustees are responsible for the preparation of the accounts. The charity's trustees consider that an audit is not required for this year under section 144(2) of the Charities Act 2011 (the 2011 Act) and that an independent examination is needed.
It is my responsibility to:
qexamine the accounts under section 145 of the 2011 Act;
qto follow the procedures laid down in the general Directions given by the Charity Commission under section 145(5)(b) of the 2011 Act; and
qto state whether particular matters have come to my attention.
## **Basis of Independent examiner's report**
My examination was carried out in accordance with the general Directions given by the Charity Commissioners. An examination includes a review of the accounting records kept by the charity and a comparison of the accounts presented with those records. It also includes consideration of any unusual items or disclosures in the accounts, and seeking explanations from you as trustees concerning any such matters. The procedures undertaken do not provide all the evidence that would be required in an audit, and consequently no opinion is given as to whether the accounts present a 'true and fair view' and the report is limited to those matters set out in the statement below.
## **Independent examiner's statement**
In connection with my examination, no matter has come to my attention:
- 1) which gives me reasonable cause to believe that in any material respect the requirements:
q to keep accounting records in accordance with section 130 of the 2011 Act; and
- q to prepare accounts which accord with the accounting records and to comply with the accounting requirements of the 2011 Act
have not been met; or
- 2) to which, in my opinion, attention should be drawn in order to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached.

## **1 Accounting Policies**
## **a Basis of accounting**
The Trustees have taken advantage of section 144 (2) of the Charities Act 2011 and have prepared the accounts on a receipts and payments basis.
## **b Taxation**
As a registered charity the organisation benefits from rates relief and is generally exempt from income tax and capital gains tax but not from VAT. Irrecoverable VAT is included in the cost of those items to which it relates.
## **d Fund accounting**
Funds held by the charity are either:
## **Unrestricted general funds**
These are funds which can be used in accordance with the charitable objects at the discretion of the trustees.
## **Restricted funds**
These are funds that can only be used for particular restricted purposes within the objects of the charity. Restrictions arise when specified by the donor or when funds are raised for particular restricted purposes.
## **Designated funds**
These are funds set aside by the trustees out of unrestricted general funds for specific future purposes or projects.
Further explanation of the nature and purpose of each fund is included in the notes to the accounts.
## **2 Trustee remuneration and expenses**
No trustees received any remuneration or expenses during the accounting period.
