2022/2023 saw the completion of Brighton Theatre’s INSECT TRILOGY, with the premiere on the Brighton Fringe of COCKY & THE TARDIGRADES. The Artistic and Associate Directors then turned to researching Moscow in 1941 on the eve of the German invasion of the USSR; focusing on the legendary meeting between two rival poets, Anna Akhmatova and Marina Tsvetaeva. The war in Ukraine would provide a contemporary context for this drama of resistance and betrayal, told through the writings of the two poets, and set against the threat of national annihilation.

Research and pre-production included meetings and discussions with Pushkin House, the politically independent Centre for Russian Culture; with the former head of the BBC’s Ukrainian Service; and with experts on the lives and works of **Summary of the main** the two poets and their contemporaries. **activities undertaken for the public benefit in relation to these objects (include within** Brighton Theatre’s commitment to international public **this section the statutory** engagement was pursued, with visits to the prison rehab **declaration that trustees have** programme of California-based CREATIVE ACTS, an **had regard to the guidance** organization that ‘ _seeks to transform urgent social justice_ **issued by the Charity** _issues through the power of the Arts_ ’ and to Amazon’s **Commission on public** Creative Opportunities Programme for pre-teens and school **benefit)** leavers.

Faynia Williams continued to represent Brighton Theatre locally and nationally, as Governor of Brighton Girls School and a Member of the Stephen Joseph Committee, hosting events, awards and seminars for the public benefit.

Richard Crane followed the launch of his acclaimed memoir GHOST BOY: A PLAYWRIGHT’S PROGRESS, with research into its sequel, recalling the origins of Brighton Theatre.

More details on these activities are given in Section D.

The Trustees confirm that they have complied with their duty to have due regard to the Charity Commission’s guidance on public benefit.
