With this objective, we funded the restoration of Cameron's Cottage in the RSPB Franchises Lodge nature reserve within the New Forest. It can sleep up to 19 people and provides a sustainable place where groups of young people can experien and learn about the natural world. Since opening in 2022 we have hosted many groups of young people from all walks of life to stay at Cameron's Cottage and benefit from time spent in nature. All camps funded were to groups who needed financial help. Section D Achievements and performance Cameron's Cottage In partnership with the RSPB we have had another very busy year supporting Cameron's Cottage and sending many groups of young people to stay there. Summary of the maln achievements of the charlty during the year These opportunities are very important for young people to have immersive and hands on experience in nature. In 2024 we funded 14 groups to spend time at the Cottage, either day visits or residential stays. These groups would not have had the financial means to visit without our help. We supported the following camps Winchester Young Carers Romsey Young Carers residential Romsey Young Carers family day New Forest Young Carers Southampton Young Carers family day Leaside Trust from Hackney residential Sparsholt Junior School. Kingsworthy Primary School, year 5 Kingsworthy Primary School, year 6 Stanmore Primary Wild New Forest, spring camp Wild New Forest, autumn camp BTO Young Leaders camp Young Writers camp Details of all our work is on our website wv. meronbes Other work we supported in 2024 We continued our sponsorship of junior memberships with Hampshire Ornithology Society. for young people in full time education. Though our Young Naturalist program we funded 4 projects this year. This fund is to encourage young people to run their own projects and create opportunities to connect with other young people and nature. We sponsored two places at the Cornell bird camp in New York. We selected the two deserving winners from numerous applications received. We are funding a new Young Birders Club organised by Birds of Poole Harbour. They organise monthly outings, trips and talks to educate and inspire their young members. We organised the annual Cameron Bespolka Wildlife Memorial Talk, hosted by Winchester College. This year's speaker was Holly Budge. who gave 2 talks 'Disappearing Giants,. One was to 480 primary school children and an evening lecture to adults. Section E Financial review The Trustees have agreed that the Trust will have a cash reserve in the bank to cover a minimum of 26 weeks of committed expenditure. This has been achieved. I report to the trustees on my examination of the accounts of the above charity (“the Trust”) for the year ended 31 December 2024 .
- Responsibilities and As the charity trustees of the Trust, you are responsible for the preparation basis of report of the accounts in accordance with the requirements of the Charities Act 2011 (“the Act”).
I report in respect of my examination of the Trust’s accounts carried out under section 145 of the 2011 Act and in carrying out my examination, I have followed the applicable Directions given by the Charity Commission under section 145(5)(b) of the Act.
