## **Chairperson’s report 2023** 

I would like to thank everyone for their support over the past 12 months and those coming out tonight. 

It has been a challenging year both financially and with the complex needs of the children. We finished the year with a deficit which Tracey will explain in the financial report. 

This year we have started with a larger intake of SEN children and had 7 children working with 1:1’s.  We have worked with multiple professionals and had lots of staff working to facilitate this. 

I wish to thank all the staff who have managed throughout the challenging year with extra work and responsibility. 

We had an Ofsted inspection at the end of November 2022 which went well and graded “good”. 

We have some staffing changes with Ann retiring and Tracey Eastabrook joining us, Sarah going off on maternity and Fran Beedie stepping up as Play leader. 

My Management team, Chantelle, Sarah and Fran  have been amazing and have kept the staff on board and supported by Tracey.   Danielle has been really busy with lots of referrals and a large number of children to work with.  She has been amazing and supported by Fran and others to help prepare children for their next educational step. 

The Government has gradually increased the funding but still leaves a shortfall which unfortunately means less 1:1 support is available for children.   The setting is starting September 23 with a change in working practice and use of individual support for children. 

Lastly I would like to say an enormous thank you to Chantelle who is retiring at Christmas. She has worked since 1986 starting at Torridge Pre School and then the merger with Jack & Jill’s to create Little Frogs Pre School.  She has worked with thousands of children over the years and tens of staff.  She will be sadly missed and a very hard act to follow but Sarah will be taking over as Manager supported by Fran Beedie & Tracey.  We have a really strong supportive team going forward.   We wish Chantelle a long and happy retirement and if she would ever like to pop in she is always welcome. 

I would like to say a big thank you to everyone and I wish you all a safe and happy Christmas.  Let’s look forward to a fresh start in 2024 for everyone.
