Chairperson’s report 2021
I would like to thank everyone for their support over the past 12 months. Thank you to Kim who has stepped up as Vice Chairperson to cover in my absence.
Unfortunately due to COVID fundraising events were disappointingly cancelled and we will be looking to see what we can safely do this year.
This year has been such a challenging year for everyone and Little Frogs has stepped up and continue to run for all children.
I wish to thank all the staff who have managed to adapt to the new working methods and added extra work and responsibility.
My Management team, Chantelle, Sarah and Charlene have been amazing and have kept the staff on board and supported by Tracey. Unfortunately Charlene has now left Little Frogs to go on to a new job with more hours at GTS. She will be very sadly missed.
We are delighted to have appointed Abbi as Play Leader Assistant and Danielle has taken over the challenging role of Designated Safeguarding Lead. We wish them both well.
The lower numbers and with no funding guarantee has been stressful. Tracey applied for the grants available and has been successful with some but we still ended the year with a small deficit. We managed a trip to say goodbye to the school leavers but no other celebrations took place.
Starting in September we have a very challenging year ahead with new starters struggling to settle and again costs massively increasing. We have been proactive applying for SEN funding but this still does not meet the full cost of providing 1:1 support.
We managed to get another 10 year lease signed on the building but costs are rising and also the landlord has some major repairs to carry out in the coming months to the structure of the back of the building. This will be very challenging to organise. We have also increasing maintenance costs in the internal fixtures such as plumbing/taps etc.
We are working hard to limit a deficit for the coming year and the team are recruiting and filling spaces where possible. With all the extra cleaning involved we are putting a lot of pressure on the staff as we are also keeping staffing to the minimum.
I would like to say a big thank you to everyone and I wish you all a safe and happy Christmas. Let’s look forward to a fresh start in 2022 for everyone.
