## **TRUSTEES’ REPORT FOR THE YEAR ENDED 30[TH] April 2021** 

The trustees present their report of the charity for the year ended 30[th] April 2021. 

## **TRUSTEES** 

The trustees named on page 1 have served throughout the year. 

Appointment of trustees is governed by the Trust Deed of the charity. 

The Board of Trustees are authorised to appoint new trustees to fill vacancies arising through resignation or death of an existing trustee. 



MOE’S CHILDRENS FOUNDATION 

## **AIMS AND OBJECTIVES** 

## **Moe’s Children’s Foundation exists to:** 

- Act as a resource for young persons aged up to 18 years old living in parts of the world by providing libraries, educational resources, advice and assistance and organising programmes of physical, educational and other activities; 

- Eliminate barriers and empower children and young adults between the ages of 3 and 18 by weekly book reading. Advancing in life and helping young people by developing their reading skills, capacities and capabilities to enable them to participate in society as independent, mature and responsible individuals; 

- Organise quiz competitions and promote the realities of self-empowerment and independence; 

- Increase awareness by book distribution both in the UK and parts of Africa, to individuals and organisations; 

- Provide recreational and leisure time activity in the interests of teaching, social welfare for people living in the areas of benefit who have need by reason of their youth, age, infirmity or disability, poverty or social and economic circumstances with a view to improving the conditions of life of such persons. 

In setting objectives, developing strategies and undertaking activities, the trustees have given careful consideration to the Charity Commission’s general guidance on public benefit. 

## **ACHIEVEMENT AND PERFORMANCE** 

During the year, the charity did not carry out any activities. 

## **TRUSTEES’ REPORT FOR THE YEAR ENDED 30[TH] APRIL 2021** 

For the year ended 30[th] April 2019 the trustees did not carry out any financial activities for the charity. 

## **RISK REVIEW** 

The trustees conduct period reviews of the major risks to which the charity is exposed and systems and procedures to manage those risks identified. Given the uncertainty created during the year of electioneering in Sierra Leone and the end of the Ebola crises in West Africa and other trustees’ commitments, the trustees considered risks associated with the period under review and implemented adequate measures so as to minimise potential impact on the charity should any of those risks materialise. 

## **STATEMENT OF TRUSTEES’ RESPONSIBILITIES** 

Law applicable to charities in England and Wales requires the trustees to prepare financial statements for each financial year which give a true and fair view of the charity’s financial activities

during the year and of its financial position at the end of the year. In preparing those financial statements, the trustees required to: 

- a) Select suitable accounting policies and apply them consistently; 

- b) Make judgements and estimates that are reasonable and prudent; 

- c) State whether applicable accounting standards and statements of recommended practice have been followed, subject to any departures disclosed and explained in the financial statements; 

- d) Prepare the financial statements on the going concern basis unless it is inappropriate to presume that the charity will continue in operation. 

The trustees are responsible for keeping accounting records which disclose with reasonable accuracy at any time of the financial position of the charity and enable them to ensure that the financial statements comply with the Charities Act 1993. They are also responsible for safeguarding the assets of the charity and hence for taking reasonable steps for the prevention and detection of fraud and other irregularities.
