‘Our Year’
Chair’s Report
This was definitely a year not to forget! However, not for the best of reasons. The year of the pandemic with lock downs and social distancing being the key words! We tried to make the best of it though, we held weekly zoom meetings on a Friday with quizzes and chatting. During the Summer months we managed a few outside meet ups, picnics and crafts at Swadlincote Woodlands, and some crafty meet ups in the courtyard at Sharpe’s Museum. We also supported an event at Sharpe’s, selling hot drinks and super cakes made by members. We had a takeaway night, much enjoyed…. by all there! Some members joined with outside meet up’s others did not feel able to be out and about, Rachel and Charline made regular contact with members via the phone, and we did What’s App. chat. At Christmas, trustees took out cards and goody bags to all members and Santa was on Facebook wishing all festive wishes.
We have tried our best to be there to support all of you lovely members and families, and hope we are now over the worst, and we can carry on with our regular meeting up at Winshill Neighbourhood Centre, and for the moment Gresley Old Hall, along with the numerous other outings and activities we have in our timetable including our first ever holiday in September 2022.
It has been a great pleasure to be chair of this great charity again this year for me and I look forward to exciting times ahead.

We have had new trustees join our board, we felt that we needed extra help and skills, we always try to keep our board diverse and active!

Trustees worked in the background to support members in this difficult time, our members are so important to us and when the trustees spoke after zoom meetings we always tried to find ways to enhance members life’s during the difficult times we were living in.
Financial Report
The year was very flat in the financial sense, with little incoming, only funding as detailed to support members during the pandemic. The outgoings are detailed within the report, these
included online meetings costs and contact costs with members. The financial position of the charity is secure, and looking to the future we will undertake to obtain additional funding, fundraise to maintain the balance in the bank that gives us our three month security, but allows us to ensure we meet member needs.
