At the beginning of 2020, we managed to secure the purchase of a second building, in the centre of Sibiu, that could be used as a future Day Care Centre, but our enthusiasm was tainted by the pandemic and our plans for its immediate use had to be put on hold.
For the same reason, our eight-week Summer School was also cancelled, and we were sad to lose the support and help of so many volunteers.
The usual Christmas giving did manage to go ahead in a limited way, our beneficiaries received food, goods-parcels and emotional support to ensure all our families were well and had not been forgotten.
At the start of the new year, there were hopes that restrictions may be lifted, and we were able to host some smaller activities in the Day Centre, with individuals from the community and one orphanage. Our residents at Little John’s House also enjoyed the change of environment and began to learn new skills and make new friends. We are confident that our work so far will succeed and continue. We have also been able to divide the Centre, to provide chargeable accommodation, with profits from any hire being paid into Fundatia Little Johns account.
