Ob"ectives and activities
TAR
March 2012

To benefit the residents of Lisvane and the neighbouthood, without
distinction of sex, sexual orienlation, ra￿ or of political. religious or other
opinions by associating togelher the said residents and the local
authorities. voluntary and other organisations in a common effort to
advance education and to provide facilities in the interesls of social
welfare for recreation and leisure time occupation with the objective of
improving the conditions of life for the residents.
Summary of the objects of the
charity set out in its
governing document
In furtherance of these objects but not otherwise, the Trustees shall have
power..
To estatAish or secure the establishment of a community centre and to
maintsin or manage or co-operate with any statutory authority in the
maintenance and management of such a centre for activities promoted
b the chari
in furtherance of the above ob'ects.
The Trustees hire facilits'es to around 20+ drfferent groups for activities
available to residents of Lisvane and the neighbourhood. These include
a community library, photography group, computer group, an education
initiative for dyslexic children. parent and toddler group5, exercise
dasses. dance groups for children, yoga. accommodation for volunteers
who work in environmental groups, and casual bookings for children's
birthday parties etc.
The facilities are also used by the Lisvane
Community Council.
Summary of the main
activities undertaken for the
public benefit in relation to
these objects (include within
this section the statutory
declaration that trustees have
had regard to the guidance
issued by the Charity
Commission on public
benefit>
In carying out these activities, the Twstees had regard to the guidance
issued by the Charity Commission on public benefit. They believe that
the wide range of social, recreational and educational activities taking
place in the centre, combined with the relatively low rents charged and
the fact that the centre is available to all who wish to use it are consistent
with the public benefit requirement.
Following substantial redevelopment of the building in 2021, the centre
re-opened to the public in February 2022 with an official opening event in
May 2022. Since then the centre has been a very busy focal point of the
communty. Part of the building has been sublet to a café which is open
to the public 7 days a week.
