Section D: Achievements and Perfor mance
Summary of the main achievements of the charity during the year
The Edgbaston Foundation continued its focus on partnering with local organisations in 2022 to maximise on the efforts made to support the civil contingency effort during COVID. We worked hard to grow initiatives such as Breaking Boundaries and Toys4Birmingham to widen awareness and greater knowledge of the Edgbaston Foundation amongst the general public and community and government organisations. The continued growth of the Edgbaston Cricket Education Programme linked with Sandwell College has been a success for the Foundation, and we hope to see it continue to grow and flourish.
The Edgbaston Foundation’s strategic focuses are on 4 thematic areas:
Wellbeing and Enjoyment: Provide opportunities to improve both physical and mental wellbeing and a sense of enjoyment within activities undertaken
Creating Connections: Help foster a sense of belonging, especially amongst those that are isolated or disadvantaged. Use cricket as a means of bringing people together
Cricket Inspired Learning: Use the theme of cricket to support personal development through expansion of knowledge, skills development, and attainment of qualifications
Charitable Partnership: Collaborate with experienced practitioners that share our strategic objectives

Section E : Financial Review
Brief statement on the charity’s policy on reserves
The Edgbaston Foundation currently holds £70,866 in reserves of which £34,185 is unrestricted.
The reserves that we have set aside provide financial stability and the means for the development of our principal activities and for the future growth of the charity. We intend to maintain our unrestricted reserves at a comfortable level and at a minimum of £10,000.
The Board reviews quarterly the amount of unrestricted reserves that are required to ensure that they are adequate to fulfil our continuing obligations.
Further financial review details:
Revenue for 2022 was £169,504, expenditure £147,323 with a net surplus of £22,181.
The revenue figure was supported by several fundraising activities that had a strong return on investment with low expenditure connected to each activity. Salaries remain the biggest expenditure for the Foundation with the Breaking Boundaries project covering a significant percentage of the salary of the key officer overseeing that project.
