Radlett and District u3a Chairman’s report for the year ended 31[st] August 2024
Radlett & District U3A is a Registered Charity No 1156262 and has now been running for twelve years.
We have had a successful year with the Committee being unchanged from the year before and all working well and supporting each other.
We are permanently finding that members are not reading their monthly newsletter as I get numerous phone calls asking what outings are organised. This is a great shame because it has a lot of useful information in it in order to keep our members up to date with what is happening.
We also get some problems with payments for events and groups although we have our deputy treasurer on hand to help members through this if they ask.
These were the slightly negative things, as well as sadly losing some members, but there were a lot of positive things. We had a year full of great outings, theatre trips, stately homes and gardens, interesting house talks, quiz and Christmas lunch, tea for our group leaders with them all being very well supported. We made coffee mornings for our new members as a welcoming gesture. Our monthly meetings, although not quite as well attended as they used to be, had some really good speakers.
We are still keeping our membership intake to the postcodes closest to us. We had our first Radlett u3a holiday to a Warner’s hotel in the Cotswolds which was successful and enabled us to be confident to arrange another one .
As Chairman I try to encourage members to join in, to be available when needed, support my Committee and make our u3a as good an organisation as I can.
Adrienne Cohen (Chairman)
