The Ekota Care Trust Limited was established and incorporated as a Company (with no share capital) at Companies House on the 29th of April 2013. Its name was entered in the Charity Commission's C8ntral Register on the 18th of March 2014. Back ound The word "Ekota" in Bengall means Unity and in an increasingly diffi¢ult world, where many people ara living in poverty and isolation, we want to make a difference and deliver culturally sensitive services that will bring real change to people's lives. The Ekots Care Trust Limited was established in 2013 by the BAME Community living in the London Borough of Newham. Ekota Care Trust Limited provides help, assist and support disadvantaged and very vulnerable P80ple from the Black and Minority Ethnic (BAME) Community with th8ir educational, social, health and welfare needs to help and Support their integration into Society in the United Kingdom. It Is governed by the regulation set out in the Memorandum and Articles of Association and run by Board of Directors. The Trust's new Board members are elected at the Annual General Meeting every two years. The Board Direclors glve their time voluntarily. recelve no remuneration, nor were they paid for any other actlvity relating to the charity in the year. The Board of Directors members are normally briefed by the Chairperson and the Secretary in order to familiarise themselves with the rules, regulations and responsibilities of the Trust. The Board of Directors met 6 times during the year to reviewth8 activities of the Trust including the approval of the annual report and accounts as well as budgets. capital expenditure and to set out the fund - raising date for the Trust. The day-to-day work of the Trust is overseen by the Project Coordinator who is responsible to and reports to the Board of Directors. The Board of Directors are aware of the potential risks to the Trust, toth financial and otherwise. Therefore, strategies are in place to control these risks. A8se8srnents have also been taking relating to fire and health and safety, The Board of Directors are seriously looking into other risk areas such as operational, governance and compliance with law and regulations.

Page 3 Achievemen and Performance of th8 Trust The Board of Directors are pleased to report another very active year with many essential services being oversubscribed. Ekota Care Trust Limited continues to actively strive to protect its financial security in order to contlnue to safeguard the ongoing development of the Trust and its projects and service5 that it offers to the local community in Newharn and other surrounding East London Boroughs. Ekot Care Tr st Llmlted's Sorvlces & Actlvltles and Its Im act The Ekota Care Trust Limited operates from the Carpenters and Docklands Centre in Stratford, East London between Monday to Wednesday and some evenings and weekends work. The Trust deliver's holistic services which support disadvantaged and vulnerable people in the grassroot communities to assert and enjoy their rights and achieve their aspirations. The Trust work's collaboratively with the community and in close partnership with local agencies, Newham Council and several other statutory and mainstream agencies themselves to design and deliver the services that meet their needs. We have been runnln varlet of dro -In actlvitle8 that Includad: Coffee Mornings - opportunity for people feeling lonely to get together, have a chat over a cup of coffee and biscuil. Exchange views on social matters, opportunity to share thelr life experiences. We ran a weekly lunch club programme for older people and pensioners - coming together lo connect and share a healthy and nutritious meal. Engage disadvantaged groups of people to come together in a variety of socialisatlon actlvities - indoor games, read a selection of newspapers, magazlnes, walch a film show. We ran a Healthy Living Workshop Programme once every 8 weeks - Themes included topics on Nutrition and Diet, Exercise, Effects of smoking, Chewing Beetle nut and tobacco etc. A local health care worker or a nurse came once a month and provided our service users with a baslc health check (checking weight, blood pressure checks, checking blood sugar levels, checking their diets etc). Our volunteers provided befriended support to the older people some who just wanted to talk to someone. others needing some basic advice on dally life issues. We ran a weekly benefits advice surgery when a qualified welfare rights adviser came in and provided a variety of benefits and housing advice to enable our service users to live safely, independently In their own home. Inanclal Revl The financial position of the Charity is portrayed in the accompanying Annual Accounts. Statement of Trustees, Res onsibllltles The Directors (who are also Trustees of Ekota Care Trust Limited) are responslble for preparing the trustees, annual report and the financial statements in accordance with applicable law and United Kingdom Accounting Standards (United Kingdom Generally Accepted Accounting Practice). Company law requires the Directors to prepare financial statements for each financial year that give a true and fair view of the state of affairs of the charitable company and of the incoming resources and appllcation of resources, including the income and expenditure of the charitable company for that period. In preparing these financial statements. the Directors are required to: (a) Select suitable accounting policies and apply consistently. (b) Observe the methods and principles in the Charities SORP. (c) Make judgements and estimates that are reasonable and prudent.

(e) Prepare the financial statsments on a going concern basis unless it is inapproprlate to presume that the charity will continue in operation. The Directors are responsible for keeping proper accounting records that disclose wilh reasonable accuracy at any time the financlal position of the charitable company and enable them to ensure that the financial statements comply with the Companies Act 2006. They are also responsible for safeguarding the assets of the charitable company and hence for taking reasonable steps for the prevention and detection of fraud and other irregularities. Reserve Poll¢ It is the policy of the charity that unre8trlcted funds, which have not been designated for a specific us8, should be maintained at a level equivalent to at least three months expenditure. The Board of Directors consider that reserves at this level will ensure that, In the event of a significant drop in funding, they will be able to continue the trust's current actlvities while consideration is given to ways in which additional funds may be raised. Ekota Care Trust Limited will actively work to achieve this level of reserves. Isk Mana ement The Board of Directors have assessed th8 risks the trust faces and have compiled a risk list whlch identified the major risks by area of activity, the natur8 ofthose risks. the likelihood of risks happening and the measures taken to manage them. The Board of Direclors review this list regularly at thelr meetings and at its meetings wlth employed staff running the services. The Board of Directors are satiSf￿d that systems are in place to mltlgate exposure to the major rlsks. The finances of the trust are kept under review. Appropriate DBS (Disclosure Barrlng Service) checks, supported by regular policy reviews are made for all those who work with children and other vulnerable groups with the Trust'9 activities.
