TRUSTEES REPORT
FOR THE YEAR ENDED 31 MARCH 2021
The Trustees of The Jayne Sargent Foundation (the charity) are pleased to present their annual report and financial statements for the year ending 31 March 2021.
The trustees report has been prepared in accordance with the charity’s governing document, the Charities Act 2011 and “Accounting and Reporting by Charities: Statement of Recommended Practice applicable to charities preparing their accounts in accordance with the Financial Reporting Standard applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland (FRS 102)” issued January 2019. The financial statements have been prepared on a receipts and payments basis.
Objectives and Activities
The Jayne Sargent Foundation is a charity based in Telford, Shropshire offering a cancer support group and wellbeing therapist service at Meeting Point House, Southwater in Telford.
The object of the charity is to pay and apply the capital and income to promote and protect the physical and mental health of sufferers of all kinds of cancer through the provision of financial support, education and practical advice, either by direct assistance to individuals or by the making of grants to other charities who provide similar support, such as assistance in either case to be exclusively charitable according to the laws of England and Wales.
Achievements and Performance
The Trustees have had due regard to the guidance published by the Charity Commission on public benefit.
Financial Review
The charity’s income for the year amounted to £1,341 (2020: £6,101). The bank and cash accounts holds fund at the yearend of £21,325 (2020: £25,762).
The trustees are committed to only spending the excess funds over and above their working capital requirements.
The World Health Organisation declared Covid-19 a global pandemic on 11 March 2020 and the UK went into lockdown on 23 March 2020. The UK entered two further lockdown periods on 5th November 2020 and 6th January 2021. The worldwide outbreak and the virus control measures resulted in the charity suspending its fundraising events.
However, the charity has sufficient reserves and expenditure control to not present a going concern issue during the crisis, and for the next 12 months.
Structure, Governance and Management
The Jayne Sargent Foundation was registered on 12 March 2014 as a Charitable Incorporated Organisation and was formally registered with the Charity Commission. It is governed by its constitution and a board of members also known as trustees. The assets of the charity are vested in the CIO itself as a corporate body, not in trustees personally.
