Charitable objects- For the publlc benefit to preserve, maintaln and protett the Orfordness Llghthouse and its artefacts for its historic, constructional and architectural merit; or the furtherance of such other charitable purposes as are exclusively charltable under the laws of England and Wales as the trustees in their absolute discretion decide, particularly but not exclusively by the provision of 8rants. By a lease dated 28 April 2014, the lighthouse was leased by Orfordness Lighthouse Company Limited to the charity for a term of 10 years at an annual rent of £1. The income of the charity is derived from donations. There have been no changes during the year to the objectives of the trust or to the policies adopted in order to achieve those objectives. Review of actlvltles - When the lighthouse was dismantled durin8 the summer of 2020 the lantern room and other key artefacts in the lighthouse were saved. They now belong to the trustees and they are being kept safe at the site of Cobra Mist Limited on Orfordness. The trustees hope that it will be possible to incorporate the lantern room in a building on a site on Orfordness which would be a memorial to the lighthouse housing the artefacts which have been saved. The building would be used for public benefft. During the year, there has been no further progress over plans forthe development and funding of this new structure.
Trustees, policies - Risk management - the trustees have a duty to identify and review the risks to which the charity is exposed. The landlord is responsible for taking out reasonable public liability cover and the trustees are satisfied that the level of cover is sufficient. As soon as the structure of the li8hthouse became unsound, the visits to tt ceased. Reserves- the trustees do not consider that there is a need for a reserves policy. The funds of the charity are being used towards achieving the objectives of preserving the lighthouse for as long as possible and allowing as many people as possible to visit it. enste Michae Finney Nicho Jo Oakes Mark Thacker ..2025
